The regular season concludes for both of these quality teams on Halloween in Ashland. The Knights of Lexington Catholic are 7-2 and on a 4 game winning streak. They have allowed just 8 points in that stretch. Ashland is 6-3 and had their 5 game winning streak smashed by Johnson Central by a tune of 35-0. The Ashland offense ended with just 11 net yards.

Cam Davis will look to get things back on track for Ashland. He is just 82 yards from eclipsing 1000 on the ground for the season.

Brady Wasik is the do-everything man for Catholic, leading in both passing and rushing as well as being an anchor on defense alongside fellow top tacklers Jack Wedding and Mark Hosinski.

It will be interesting to see what pace this game falls into. I give the edge to Catholic here due to versatility and that dominant defense, especially with Ashland coming off their performance from last week.

Same. LexCath has smothered the run this season and Ashland is still a work in progress at quarterback. That could spell a 'Nightmare on Elm Street'*  for the Tomcats. It will be Halloween, after all. ? ?

*Elm Street runs directly behind the home side of Putnam Stadium.

The Independent says Davis has been day to day this week. If he plays and is near 100% then Catholic wins by a couple scores. If he doesn’t play the Tomcats will look like a fish out of water just like last week and lose by four or five scores. Ashland doesn’t have the horses up front to be one dimensional and unfortunately their passing game hasn’t materialized. They can beat their neighbors with the run game but need more balance on offense to compete with the likes of Johnson Central and Lexington Catholic.

This is where Lexington Catholic is so good this year. Many of us of a certain age are conditioned to the old Catholic teams that threw it 40 times a game and scored a ton of points, but were okay beating you 42-28. This isn't that kind of team. They can be dominant on the offensive and defensive lines.

MyTownTV handles Ashland home games. They don't go live till 7 or 7:15. I'll embed the stream when it becomes available.

0-0  after an impressive goal line stand by Ashland and a short, missed FG by LexCath.

Touchdown LexCath!

7-0 LC with 133 in the first.

Ashland inside the 5 on a QB run.  Ashland looks worlds better than last week against JC.

Touchdown Ashland, #2, strong looking athlete.

TD Ashland - Brody Simkins run from the 1/2 yard line. PAT blocked.

7-6 Lex Cath Q1.

Kick blocked.

LexCath 7 Ashland 6

1047 left in the half.

LexCath blocked a punt and has it on about the Ashland 7.
