Coach Wolfe state Male would be better at the end of the regular season.

Not really seeing it.  They couldn't run the ball at all last night and a decent secondary would have picked off at least a couple of the passes they were throwing last night.  The Male players play very hard, and the Male coaches put them in a position to make some plays, that is what they do well.  They just really don't have the playmakers they need to make a deep run.

  • Most will vote for Male, and I get that.  But East is better than they were last year and Male isn't as good and East really should have won the game last year.  The DIDN'T, I understand that.  But th

I think Bullitt East can win if they play well but I picked Male because power ratings say Male is 10-14 pts better.

That is not the play.  The go ahead td was a great catch.  The other catch is not close.  NO part of his foot is in bounds.  5 man crew and it was 3 and GOAL from the 25 or 30. The person making the call was 25 yards away.  No official anywhere close to the play.  Doesn't matter.  Male made plays down the end and East didn't.  On to the next.

Just watched the play in question and my tv would not allow me to freeze frame it and have a valid conclusion.  I did note it was the back judge that made the call, the line judge was closer and made no apparent call.  Maybe he swallowed his whistle, deferred to the back judges call, or agreed with the call but failed to signal TD.  Probably his inaction generated a lot of the doubt.

I just watched the fourth quarter.

Bullitt East can't complain much. They had Male in fourth-and-20 with a little over one minute left and let a guy run right across the field and make a fairly easy catch.

On the TD pass that made it 14-11 - it's very close. No way to really tell on the TV replay if he was in or out of bounds. Very close. Didn't like the back judge in the middle of the field is the one who ran over to make the call, but again, not sure if he was in or out.

That is a pretty bad crew in Jefferson County. Thought it was interesting on the very last drive, BE threw a pass, and a lineman caught it downfield. The crew marked it a 5-yard penalty from the spot where the lineman caught the ball. So, they messed that one up.

Give Male credit - they made plays.

And BE had a chance to close it out and didn't do it.

Agree with your observations.  Glicod announcers talked all night about defenders on both sides blatantly grabbing receivers with the skimpy crew throwing no flags.  Offensive lineman caught the pass from scrambling BE QB and ran it to the 29 and as EastSide noted marked the illegal receiver penalty from the point the ball advanced instead of previous spot.  Made it 2nd and 6 on the 24 instead of 2nd and 15 on the 15.  This crew had a rough night.

ILLEGAL TOUCHING   [7-5-13] is a SPOT FOUL. As are all the other "Illegals" (Illegal Forward Pass, Illegal Forward Handing). Thought you Gentlemen would not want to be misinformed, nor have your Rules Knowledge lacking.  That Crew got it right.

Thanks for clarification, but thought the spot was where he was downfield, not where he advanced the ball after the catch?  Just did a google search and the high school rule seems to state the penalty shall be from the previous spot, not spot file.

Clarification

No Sir - the Spot of the foul is where the Ineligible "touched or caught" the legal forward pass. Again jsut as in the other similar fouls - (Spot from where the illegal pass was thrown or the spot of the illegal forward handing).  That would be the enforcement spot.

Regrettably the Goodle Search is in error.

Even went to NFHS site to see the rule, penalty…clearly states 5 yard penalty, no loss of down from previous spot.

Not sure what your looking at.

You need to go into the Rule Book itself (Best Source)

Rule 7-5-13 =(p.66} Penalty set out below =

"5 yards plus loss of down" - bottom of p. 66

Also see Tables on pps 67-68.

You may be confusing this with Inelligible Receiver = which is a Previous Spot foul enforcement.
