6A South Warren (7-0) at 6A Central Hardin (0-7)

The hits keep on hitting for South, as the second winless team in a row appears on their schedule.  This will be the fifth meeting between these two schools, but the first as District opponents.  They started playing in 2015 and played 4 straight years through the 2018 season (twice at South and twice at Central Hardin).  South Warren is undefeated in these matchups, BUT Central Hardin has done MUCH better at home.  In 2016, South defeated Central Hardin 27-20 in OT.  In 2017, South won at Central Hardin 27-17.  So good even games there!

It seems like yesterday I traveled down for the unveiling of Central Hardin’s new turf field in the 2023 season as BG came calling.  It is a very nice facility and they have passionate fans.  But I ain’t putting a dress on a pig; Central Hardin is having a lack luster season and they have no shot in this game.  I get zero joy in typing that, but it simply the way it is.

Central Hardin Bruin Information – (TP94 Rating:  9.8)

Central Hardin’s most successful QB is SR Caleb Irwin who is 21 for 44 for 167 yards with 0 TDs and 4 INTs.  The Bruins have 3 players above 100 yards rushing through 6 stat games including SR Arthur Worlobah (203 yards), SR Rayquan Bradley (174 yards and 3 TDs), and SR Gage Gergely (123 yards).  JR Harrison Hamilton has the top WR stat line with 2 receptions for 92 yards and 1 TD.

Defensively, SR Blake Hockman leads the Bruins with 36.5 tackles on the year.

South Warren Spartan Information – (TP94 Rating: 86.63)

South comes into this game after a dominating performance against struggling district mate Meade County by a 55-3 score.

The Spartans are led by JR QB Camden Page with 1,350 yards passing with 14 TDs vs 4 INTs on the year.  SR RB Kayden York continues his fine play with 92 rushes for 510 yards and 11 TD.  SR Jake Carter leads the WR group with 41 catches for 566 yards and 5 TDs.

Defensively, South is one of the top teams around.  They have a stout DLine and are led in tackles by JR LB Takyon Darden with 44 tackles, 10 tackles for loss and 3 sacks.

Game Preview

Not much to say, except several on BGP have wondered if playing at least 7 easy games in a row will come back to haunt the Spartans deeper in the playoffs.  We’ll see.  But for this one - South Big!

Pain. Lots and lots of pain.

The #1 RPI rated 6A team vs the 32nd RPI rated team in 6A.
This game will almost  be unwatchable. The lack of talent on this team in a school with close to 2,000 students is puzzling.
The 3rd coach in 3 years doesn’t help either.
My Prediction: South Warren 66 Central Hardin 0

The extent of just how far CH has fallen in the last 3 years is almost unbelievable.

I would like to see some offensive production from Central Hardin. They have only posted 40 points on the season, mostly against the opponents backups and given up 302  points thru 7 games.

I don't see them scoring Friday unless it's on backups either, I fear.
