Metcalfe County makes the trip across the Cumberland Parkway to take on Somerset in a district clash.  The Hornets have had a rough go of it so far this season, as they will come into the game at 1-4, with their only win coming against Adair County back on August 29th, by a score of 8-7.  They dropped their first district contest last week to Monroe County, 31-14.  Metcalfe County has only scored 30 points in their 5 games, an average of 6 points per game. They have surrendered 129, for an average of 25.8 points per game.  

Somerset, meanwhile, comes into the game with a record of 4-1, and winners of 4 in a row.  The Briar Jumpers opened up district play with a 35-6 win on the road at Green County.  Somerset has scored 169 points in their 5 games, for an average of 33.8 points, while surrendering 69, for an average of 13.8. 

 

On paper this looks like a mismatch.  But it is Homecoming Week at The Briar Patch.  Will the float making, theme days, parade and dance be a distraction and cause The Jumpers to come out flat.  Or do they take care of business and move to 2-0 in the district?

Watched a couple of their games on YouTube and I was surprisingly impressed especially with their size and another physical team like LCA...wow 2A playoff is really really gonna be exciting...

Metcalfe just doesn’t have enough weapons to compete in this one. Somerset runs away with it.

For the homecoming festivities Somerset Legend Kade Grundy will be doing a pre game interview talking about his time playing Football, Basketball and Baseball at Somerset. At half time somerset Grad and current Sophomore pitcher for Lindsey Wilson Colyer White will discuss his time at Somerset and how College is going for him. After the game Offensive Coordinator Coach Tibbs will be joining for a few words about the season and team.
