District 1&2, 3&4, 5&6, 7&8 are paired in first two rounds.

Round 3 is 1-4 West and 1-4 East based on RPI.

Round 4 is straight RPI

Round 1 - Teams in D1 play D2; D3/D4; D5/D6; D7/D8 (1 seed vs. 4; 2 seed vs. 3)

Round 2 - Winners play each other

Round 3 - Four remaining teams in the west (D1-4) are paired based on RPI; same in east

Round 4 - Four remaining teams statewide are paired based on RPI

Lex catholic moving over to the west could switch things up a bit. The 3rd round has  been CAL and Central based on RPI. Central plays a killer schedule and typically loses some games so they are always 4th seed in west. Which allowed for district 1 and 2 to match up in Regional championship. Lex Catholic who has already beat Boyle County could get the 2 or 3 seed assuming CAL is the 1 seed. Lex Catholic has LCA, Great Crossing, and Ashland all left out of district who would be good RPI games. Plus they also have Bardstown who I would think finishes at worse 8-2. Now if Murray and Glasgow go 10-0 they might be able jump Lex Catholic in RPI.

 

Also, Murray beat Union County last year in the regular season.

Lawrence, assuming they win district 8,  will have the play losing team between Bell and Rock in 2nd round.

I think at some point Bourbon will be in the mix. Haven’t really played the competition so far but will have a lot to say when they head to Lloyd for a district title match in a couple weeks.

I'm withholding any judgment on Bardstown until after I see the Owensboro Catholic game. While I don't necessarily expect the Tigers to win, if they put up a spirited fight against a team that beat Bowling Green, that would be enough for me to argue they should be a discussion 3A team.  Right now, I'd keep them hungry and leave them in the 8-9 range. The progress of the passing game and front 7 on defense is encouraging, though.
