Majority of teams can't play that style of football and be successful. You have to have quite a few playmakers to get away with it.

Cooper ran exactly zero plays of true man coverage last year.

  • I love how Cooper scheduled this year and no matter what happens in the season (assuming no injuries) the Jags will be battle tested for the playoffs. Give me Anderson (OH) in this one but I will

They run a version of the air raid.  They get plays off typically well under 20 seconds.  The tempo is like nothing you have seen.  They have numerous games each year where they run 80+ plays a game.

I would like to see Cooper win, but it’s going to be too tall of a task. I will also say that I like Anderson football too, they are one of few programs out of Ohio that I enjoy following and watching. This game should help Cooper more as the season goes into the playoffs. Anderson is very quick with plays offensively and they put the football everywhere imaginable on the field.

Because they don’t play that style of football. Same reason more teams don’t rush or pass for 300 yards. Honestly if you average the number of plays they ran a game last year it would be probably under 60. Now part of that is running clocks and the other part is teams holding the ball/long drives.

If you buy into tempo and your offense is designed a certain way hitting 60 isn’t that hard. It’s like teams in basketball that will press and shoot quickly (Paul Westhead style). Those basketball teams be design will skew their stats by overall design.

The other end of the spectrum is the traditional double wing teams like Don Markham style. Those teams are in no hurry to snap the ball and run super power 40 times. Their rushing numbers will inflate along with TOP. Their defensive numbers will be misleading due to the style of offense they play. Granted Markham set the national scoring record at one point because his offense was new.

Well said.  I just disagree and think it is that difficult.   There's plenty of teams that run no Huddle tempo offense, or attempt to.  They just do not come close to matching the tempo of Amderson.

Best of luck to Cooper, they have a solid team with a lot of key returning players from last season.  It would be awesome for them to win the state title this year.

For what it’s worth, I was not very impressed by Anderson in 7 on 7. Obviously it’s a different game when the pads come on, but I think Cooper fares better than many people think.

Anderson has nice skilled players D1 level but the biggest difference might be the trenches they have size and speed.

Speaking to last year only, Anderson had to have everything to make it as far as they did in Ohio.

I was thinking about you today @JUGGSPORTS and thank you!

Anderson won the toss, deferred to second half

Cooper return to their own 27.

6 yards gained on first down, no gain on 2nd and 3rd down.  Cooper punt from own 35.  Anderson return to own 36.

1st and 10 Anderson

9:48 1Q 0-0

Anderson running a fast paced no huddle.  Very generous jersey grabbing on O-Line.  Cooper hold Anderson on 4th and 10.

Cooper ball on own 21.

6:06 1Q 0-0

Looked like Anderson targeted O'Hara's head on a run, no call.
