"Sandberg, a 10-time All-Star who was the National League MVP in 1984, announced that he had been diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer on Jan. 22, 2024."

Rest in Peace, Ryne.

Very Sad.

Growing up in Northern KY we got WGN out of Chicago. So basically we could watch every Cubs game during the afternoon when they were at home bc they didn’t have lights yet. When the Reds would play up there we’d turn on Marty and Joe and watch the WGN broadcast. The best of times. Obviously the name we heard the most was Ryan Sandberg, but it wasn’t Ryan it was Ryne, and we couldn’t wrap our heads around that as little kids. I knew he was very good but not HOF good until he was inducted. Looking back over his stats it’s very much HOF worthy. God bless him.

Very sad to hear this one.  Like a lot of people in my age group, we grew up watching the Cubs on WGN and the Braves on TBS since ESPN didn't have games back then.

I hope Ryno is having a beer with Harry right now.

My son’s favorite. We were another WGN family.  Bozo the Clown (we couldn’t miss the Grand Prize Game), the Bears and the Cubs.  Ryne Dee Sandberg and the Super Bowl Shuffle.
