79 team went 9-1 on the season and ended up Central Kentucky Conference Champions.  Back then only district champion went to the playoffs.  We lost a heartbreaker to Russell County on a very muddy field.  That was the day Boyle learned that they had problems placing the football field on top of an old farm pond.  It took 18 more years for Boyle to lose another muddy heartbreaker to Dudley's Bourbon County team that made the decision to look into ways of getting a turf field installed.

Been hearing conversations on that “pond dirt” field for 56 years. ?

You know what I like about thinking about these kind of jerseys?

It reminds me of when the local news channels do their team by team capsules to preview the season and 75% of the players they are interviewing has torn up practice jerseys or mesh jerseys like this. Those capsules mean that football season is coming in a couple weeks or sooner. I associate these jerseys with some Senior linemen from a school that went 4-7 telling everyone with a sense of bravado how good they are going to be this next year and that optimism is pretty awesome.

You don't say! Also caught a glance of some coaches shorts and neck rolls!

We had mesh practice jersey's and after a few weeks of practice we were using shoe strings to keep them things together.

Must have been a different kind of mesh. The heavy mesh jerseys we had could survive a nuclear bombing.
