That is really hard, if not impossible, to do at D1 level as both sports require extensive offseason work. Even at lower levels, it's really hard to do. Too much time, too much sports-specific training, and classroom time (academically and athletically).....it is a tall task even if your talented enough to excel at both sports at that level.

Yes and no. God given athletic ability and talent is a big factor. In football especially, pure talent equals performance as much if not more so than skill. I am not minimizing developing skills but for some people, if you have that special athletic ability it can give an advantage that no amount of work can overcome.

It's still really, really hard no matter how talented you are. Because you're playing with and against guys who are just as talented, and in many cases maybe even more. And those guys are continuing to develop their talent in the offseason. Especially in football, where lifting, and studying/learning the system in the offseason is critical. And college baseball is such a daily grind for the 4 month season, not being able to work on football will be a huge disadvantage.  And going right into that grind after a D1 football season is going to be hard on the body physically. It's been done, but the number of guys who do it, keeps getting smaller, and smaller. It would be great to see it happen.

Tyler’s freshman year he went: 8 touches, 130 yards, 2 TDs and a pick on defense in the Cov Cath/Beechwood game when the Colonels were a 14-1 4A team. He was easily one of the three best guys on the field that game too at that young of an age. Just an incredible player.

I will add this, in his freshman season, Beechwood came to play us at War Memorial for the semi-finals which can be overwhelming for a young player, but not for Tyler. He was impressive.

Beechwood had a lot of good players on that team, but I came away from that game believing that he was a special player.
