Reds at Orioles (4/18 - 4/20)

Reds take game one 8-3 behind a brilliant outing by Andrew Abbott and a HR fueled offense.

Today the Reds start Hunter Greene, the best pitcher in MLB so far this year.

The Reds scored 3 in the 3rd and 4 in the 4th!

If you listen to Terry Francona talk after games, it becomes clear rather quickly why he is a HOF manager. He takes the pressure off the game. If Elly strikes out 4 times in a game, he knows Francona will shrug it off and say just one of the games, get them tomorrow. Francona takes pressure off players and puts confidence in them. But they know he is paying attention to the details too.

Francona even coaches up the media after games. Last night someone asked, how good was it to see Elly hit a HR on that pitch, insinuating like there was concern about Elly. Francona said something like 'I am not going to make too much of one pitch or one at bat. Elly is going to get 700 at bats this year. We are not going to let a loss like yesterday linger and we are not going to let a win like tonight become too much. Celebrate tonight and then we are back here tomorrow at 4 for another game.'

Francona looks at everything through the eyes of the big 162 and doesn't get caught up in the little 1 or 2 game mishaps.

The Reds lost 9-5 yesterday and the rubber match is just getting underway.

Reds bats are cranking it out today. Leading 12-1 in the 5th. Suter started today in what will be a bullpen day for the Reds. Spiers was originally planned to start but was brought into action yesterday. Suter did a nice job, went 3 innings.

20-1 now, the Orioles are pathetic today.

It is now 24-2 the good guys after 8 1/2 innings. The Reds have 13 RBI's combined from their 8th and 9th place hitters. Noelvi Marte has 7 RBI's and Austin Wynns has 6 RBI's.

2nd most runs ever scored for the Red Legs in the past 125 years.

I don't know if you watched any but the last couple of innings were a clown show for Baltimore.

Used up about 3 1/2 weeks worth of runs.  LOL
