Holmes Coaching Search...

Featured Replies

Not looking to kick anyone when they are down, but is Holmes the worst job in NKY?

This is a bad comment, being part of the football pogram I see alot that goes on down there. We are Coaches and teaches, not these kids parents. Until the Parents decide to care ad get involved with there kids lives, Holmes will continue to have deal with these issues. Until the 95% percent of the parents don't decide to care, nothing will changes. Coachs can only coach and teach so much,we do not raise them. Holmes would be a forsce to recon with parent involvment in the program and more backing by their community. This is only one of the jobs, because the kids are not held acountable for there actions by their parents, it will be impossible to do it at school. I'm part the PTA at Holmes and I hope to see Holmes become a great place to work and/or coach.

Withrow used to be a bad job.

Taft used to be a bad job.

Finneytown used to be a bad job.

All three struggle with similar issues as Holmes.

Holmes is not the worse job - but the state coming in is a problem.

Or a solution??? Ya never know, it's a crap shoot.

That's true. They couldn't do any worse a job than the last 3 superintendents. I thought Moreland was going to be a cure. Let's just say I was off by 180 degrees.

I think whoever they get it's not going to be an assistant from somewhere else. They're a troubled school with no money to offer a head coach. It's going to be a pro bono job for somebody.

Finneytown still is not that great of a place. Brossart has done an awesome job, but his J.V. team only had 12 kids on it. The next few years they will be O.K., but Finneytown is one of the less desirable jobs in the CHL. They will probably not make the playoffs in the near future, but they can still finish with a 7-3 record again.

Winning 7 games is not that bad of a year - when your speaking about those programs. I think Holmes would be happy if they won 7. Mike Martin took the Taft Program from basically nothing and now they are competitive. I remember reading articles about how he was rebuilding that program. Withrow has had a some good years (winning 9-10 games a couple yrs ago) and is a top program in Cincinnati. I didnt say they were great jobs - just examples of some success.

Withrow is FAR from a top program in Cincinnati. The top programs are the GCL schools and the MVC schools. The FAVC has a few good teams here and there but CPS (which Taft is also a part of) football is nothing near comparable to what is in Cincinnati. There are few teams outside of the CPS that are afraid or even intimidated by Withrow.

Good coaches will not stay in those schools for long. Mike Martin will likely stay at Taft, but do expect Doc Gamble to be gone in two years (If not this coming year.)

MVC??? Summit Country Day? CHCA?

You mean GMC?

Not saying these are great jobs - just saying that coaches have had success. Doubt anyone will stay at these schools long unless they are alumni.

Yes my bad, I do mean GMC (Colerain, Princeton, etc, etc,). I do see what you are saying, please do not think I'm trying to undermind your point. And it all goes back to the fact that until something is done with the school and the family situations for some of these kids, Holmes will never be a true powerhouse. They will be a good cyclacle school with the right coach. I can only wish Holmes the best of luck. I was very fortunate for my playing career in both High School and college and wish these kids could experiance the same success.

Withrow would be many if not all NKY schools in most years. This year alone thy had 4 guys go bigtime D1

They would not beat Highlands, Homes, Beechwood, NCC, and a few others. They are successful vs other CPS schools! - and that is about that.

Any updates on this fiasco their calling a coaching search, I have been a part of this program for the past 5 years. The right person could be hired to get things turned around. Trosper did the best with what he had to work with, this teams needs is some very displined coachs to guide this program and like I said the parents have to get involved in their kids lives and support this program. I wish Trosper the best at Conner, He is back in Boone Cty. where he needs to be. Coach things for the laughs, you know I was the best camera man since the likes of Tommy G. Ron Madrick needs to hire the right person or I feel things may become much worse than before. Just my Oppion.

With CCH and LLoyd both signing head coaches, maybe Holmes will get more attention from coaches looking for a new job.
