Does anyone know when North, East and Bullitt Central went to the 6th Region?

Featured Replies

I played at North Bullitt many moons ago. I was talking to an 8th region coach the other day and trying to recall the year that North Bullitt, Bullitt east and Bullitt central went to the 6th region.  our district back then was North,East, BC and Spencer county. Scott county knocked us out of the first round of the 8th Region when they had Frank Persley. When did Scott county leave the 8th?

All moved for the 2005/06 season.

Bullitt schools to the 6th, Scott County to the 11th.

And now the Bullitt schools will be in the same district beginning next year I believe!

I’ve heard that the KHSAA is considering another major realignment of the districts and regions in the near future. The last realignment, as mentioned in the r above reply, was  back in 2005 and went into effect in the 2005-06 SY.

The one change that has always puzzled me is how North and South Laurel, two schools within 3 miles of one another, were placed in different districts in the 13th region. I always figured someone in London/Laurel had some amazing connections to get that done.

Conspiracy theories are kind of fun to entertain briefly. Reality is that there is a lot of honest hard work and compromise in these things, and I'm told this by people in the rooms making these kind of decisions.

Lol. I was working in athletics at that time, too, as an AD. I know they were people who worked diligently on that back in 2005 when it was done. And I’m sure they had a good reason for separating the two Laurel schools. But I’ve never seen one listed as to why it was done that way.

The answer to any question that you are unsure of is always the same:

MONEY

I have always thought it should be the other way around. Have the 9th Region be all Boone and Kenton County schools. Move all Campbell County schools to the 10th and move Clark and Montgomery to the 11th or 16th and make the 10th a more “northern” region. Also making the 8th region more “southern.”

SK in the 8th is crazy. The opportunity for one county to win 3 regions is crazier.
