Does anyone have any details on this one? Did DJ play and did the formerly suspended players start in this one? I found a line score showing Holmes with the win 65-47.

Holmes won 65-47 and Hill came off the bench with 22 points. Henderson had 17 points and had 3 nice dunks.

 

IMO this isn't good for other nky teams as they will get Dj back Monday as well. Holmes is getting ready to get hot, long as they keep playing together which isn't good for other nky teams.

I actually got a chance to see this one and yes Holmes looked great.

I agree with you. CovCath has been playing solid basketball and only loss by 5 to Scott County (who beat the best high school team in the nation).

I believe that any team that faces Holmes from here out will be concerned and they better be. If I'm Cov. Cath. I've got to wonder "we played them the night after all their troubles started and their fourth game in four days, then we played them on our home court and were took to the brink, without four of their top players (six total) plus DJ and we'll most likely have to beat them on their home court to go to Rupp. Ya think they might have a little extra motovation to beat us?" I believe Holmes has something to prove to Cov. Cath. and the rest of the ninth reigion nay sayers.

I don't care what you Holmes people think, until they prove they have chemistry no one should be to concerned, and if you need extra motvation in a regional final game you have no pulse.

Cov. Cath is the front runner, the reason people are talking about Holmes is because they got 6 players back from suspension and injury, but until they prove something it is un nescisary hype. Until they prove it i personally don't want to hear it.

Understand about the problems, well documented and discussed.

 

At the same time, Holmes and all the 9th Region, have several weeks to play, gel, prepare and work through offensive/defensive schemes, to help in District and Regional play.

CovCath really shouldn't be too concerned yet, they finished their district business and won't have to worry about HC or Holmes in the big picture unless they meet again in the regional finals. I hope Holmes can get it going, they have the talent and it would make for a nice "potential" 9th region final.

Each game between these two teams is a war into itself, and the players from both schools understand that, as they usually play two if not three times a year against each other, more times than not. If you saw the LexCath 5th/3rd Classic, which most didn't, as the gym was pretty empty, it really was a game where both sides wanted to win, but neither Coach did anything to showcase their team or players.

 

There are sometimes in life when playing games shouldn't matter, and it is what you do in life that does. Some Holmes players have shown what they are made of, and what they are all about and not just this year. Not all the young men, but a few and lets quite pretending that boys will be boys or about the poor inner city kids, they all know the difference between right and wrong.

 

Oh btw, Congrats to Brandon Brown who won the Mathematics Assessment and Aaron Noll who was the Captain of the CovCath Quick Recall team, who won the 34th District Quick Recall event, and will now move on to the Ninth Region Championship. Don't really care what you do in sports, it's what you do in the classroom, how well you respresent yourself, your family, your school, and your community, that really matters.....or at least it should......

Wow, I thought I was stretching it bringing up this topic in this thread, regarding CovCath maybe having to beat Holmes four times in one season, but OldGuy, you took the pressure off me with this whole Governor's Cup topic. I have no idea if you answered my question or not. Regardless of the circumstances of the first three games played, it's going to be tough to beat the same team four times in one season. As for CovCath and Holmes playing more than twice in a season, it has not happend since 1999.
