Saint Xavier 68 Newport 61

Congrats Tigers! Anyone make it see this one?

Seems like a good result for the Wildcats, even with the loss. Massey had this one 63-44 St. X.

I was told Newport was down by as much as 17. If so great comeback given who they were playing. I’ve seen  Newport twice this year. I know losing Kinney hurts but they are still solid.

I stopped by. Newport never really threatened. Got within 5 or 6 a couple times after battling back from 15 or 17. I think they just ran out of gas with the lack of depth. St X turned them over a ton with their full court pressure. X shot it really well and were extremely aggressive on defense. They were whistled for a ton of fouls. Newport battled though. Turner was solid. Newport didn't shoot the 3 very well either which didn't help their cause.

Yea they were, a couple times. Made a couple runs to get back in it but just couldn't get over the hump.

Some players were out due to illness. St. X is deep so can absorb some missing players. I want to see stat report to see who was out.

That's Graham Krezmien. He starts at center but Will Hanke can move over from forward to cover but means has to play more minutes which should only hurt if team big down low.

Good game.  St. X kills a team like Newport with depth.  Just having another good player to replace one on the court.  They’re loaded with talent and pretty impressive.  I can see why they are #1.

What was deal with St. X coach flipping out when the game was stopped for Newport’s player 1000th point?  I have seen it 4 times this year and it’s stopped every time.  Coach was losing his mind.

Wasn’t a good look for him that’s for sure.
