DragonFire Posted January 7 Posted January 7 The first week of the new year brings the first media poll: 1. St. Xavier (16) 2. Great Crossing 3. Frederick Douglass 4. Bryan Station 5. Covington Catholic 6. Marshall County 7. Hazard 8. Manual 9. George Rogers Clark 10. Green County 11. Warren Central 12. Woodford County 13. Ballard 14. Male 15. Calloway County 16. Bowling Green 17. Lloyd Memorial T-18. Adair County T-18. PRP T-18. South Laurel 21. Butler 22. Clinton County 23. Jeffersontown 24. Ashland T-25. Greenwood T-25. Harlan County T-27. LaRue County T-27. South Oldham 29. Campbell County 30. North Laurel T-31. Covingon Holy Cross T-31. Fairdale Other rankings: 1 1
DragonFire Posted January 7 Author Posted January 7 Observations: -St. X is a consensus #1, which is to be expected. Great Crossing and Frederick Douglass are consensus #2 and #3, which while not unexpected, feels slightly less common for the polls to agree on all three of the top spots. -Bryan Station, Covington Catholic, Hazard, and Manual are all consensus top 10 teams. -Green County was almost in that group, by KYHSSPORTSZONE has them not only not in the top ten, but not in the top 25. They were listed 38th overall (if the "Others" category is in order), an almost shockingly large gap. They haven't played a very tough schedule, but it is a bit jarring to see them not even in the top 25. -Marshall County and Clinton County are the last of the unbeatens, but faith in them appears varied. Marshall County is in the top 10 of each except for KYHSSPORTSZONE (where they're 17th), while Clinton County checks in more in the 20s of most, topping out in KSR where they're 11th. KYHSSPORTSZONE also has them just in the Others category. Which poll do you find is the most accurate?
fanofhoops Posted January 8 Posted January 8 Green has played 3 teams in Media Poll Top 21 with double digit wins over 2 of them. Other areas of schedule not as difficult, correct, but completely out of the Top 25 and as low as 38th I don't agree with. Green will also play Larue twice, and potential matchup with Hazard in 1st round of All A State if both win their regions respectively. Remainder of season will show exactly who Green is or could be.

May take the poll voters awhile to get with how good the Dragons are this season. masseyratings.com/KY_Boys
16thBBall Fan Posted January 8 Posted January 8 I find it interesting that 3 of the top 4 is from the 11th region and the #3 and #4 teams are in the same district. 1
TheBarber Posted January 9 Posted January 9 Uh…. Warren Central is loaded (again) with new faces. Getting guys eligible. Watch out!
nikeman49 Posted Friday at 02:29 PM Posted Friday at 02:29 PM Hazard remains in the top 10 in many polls but they don’t belong there, to be rated ahead of some of those teams is mind boggling.
24Rocks Posted Saturday at 08:43 PM Posted Saturday at 08:43 PM Which of the better teams will potentially be in the Class A tournament?

Winner there might play either Danville Christian (R12) or Walton-Verona (R8) in the semifinals.
