The pleasantries have came when Pope has changed defense’s and it threw the other team off for a number of possessions, so that did work, early numbers on ranking defensively means nothing, it’s where you go from the early season until tournament time.

I’m glad to hear some of you all are now on the it takes time, and teams get better as the season progresses train. That wasn’t always the case before with some of you. So I completely agree with you there, that definitely is time to improve throughout the year. Just pointing out just cause he may be willing to change defenses, doesn’t mean the defense has been good. In fact the defense has been pretty bad so far this year.

Pope has made several defensive changes already this season that has made the difference in the outcome of games, unlike the previous so called coach that made none in 15 years, and that’s just the plain facts, like it or not.

I’m not sure if you want to go into plain facts overall about the 15 years with the previous coach. If you want to use the last 5 years, that would be a good selling point by you. You may not want to go into plain facts though if want to talk about all 15 years. 
 

It is simple, I love what Pope has brought so far to the program. However, if people were going to criticize the previous coach cause the last couple years he couldn’t get young teams to play defense. I'm not sure why Pope gets a pass, when the defense like it or not has been bad, and the facts support that. It has been bad, even though he has a veteran team with 3 previous defensive player of the year players on it. If Cal was given 3 veteran player that were defensive player of the years and then they come in here and the defense plays bad. You all would have had a field day talking about how he obviously can’t coach, he has guys that are defensive players of the year with previous coaches and yet they suck at defense now under him. 
 

So while I agree it is nice seeing Pope make an adjustment like he did against Gonzaga. Why is the overall defense so bad? It’s all great having the ability to switch defenses, but it’s also good to actually be good at it. Which they simply haven’t been good at it on defense so far. Which as I said, I do hope it gets better and you would think it would since they do have guys with a history of being good on defense on the roster. 
 

With Cal up until the last 5 years, we knew he would have his team playing its best come tournament time. We don’t know that with Pope right now, and its just hoping it is the case of them getting better by then.

Would be nice just to forget about the previous coach but some just can’t get away from him with comments about the past, why can’t we just move forward, but some will cherish him from now on regardless.

I love you, @nikeman49, but half of your UK basketball posts are about how "now UK has a coach/team that will..." theme to them.

One outlier result normally occurs in both the W and L columns each year. Hoping this is it on L front ?

Unfortunately, the tough part of the schedule is upcoming. UK could end up with double-digit losses and have a successful SEC run. I believe they were picked 8th in the preseason standings.

Agreed, but I was referencing without commenting or using the previous coach’s name, hard to talk about present UK basketball without comparison with previous teams, but I will try harder.

Two things that have to happen if UK wants any chance of beating top tier teams:

1.) Defense has to improve. It was so bad!

2.) Robinson has to wake up. To me, he was touted as "the dude" for UK and he has not played that way for the most part. He has to be a bucket getter when shots aren't falling. His play so far has been less than inspiring.
