January 30, 200719 yr at Kentucky media. Rip UK also I saw where the Cats pulled a scholarship of a kid this week. I know you wrote a nasty article about coach (Bobby) Petrino and how classless it was. You also said something like Brooks was too much of a class guy to do something like that. I hope you give the Cats the same ripping you gave us. This stuff happens all the time in college athletics. I just hope UK gets the same negative press that we received. Rocco Gasparro, Assistant Sports Information Director, University of Louisville http://www.amnews.com/public_html/?module=displaystory&story_id=28780&format=html Now that is funny. Talk about worrying about the Jones'. "Daddy, how come you spanked me when I messed up, but not Billy." When I first saw this I thought it was a spoof or doctored.

Vaught's original artile implied that the staff at UK was above this sort of thing and used it as a foundation for ripping UofL. We all know Vaught is an unabashed UK homer so why shouldn't he get ripped for it, especially when he wants to act like he is completely objective?

We all know Vaught is an unabashed UK homer so why shouldn't he get ripped for it, especially when he wants to act like he is completely objective? Hoping some one else gets the same negative press seems spiteful. I'm sure many hope the other offender gets the same treatment, but that's not normally an opinion one publicly espouses. I just thought it was rather childish for the Assistant S.I.D. of a major University to write a letter to the editor complaining of unequal treatment in the press. I mean it's UL, not Centre or Transy or Berea. Normally, that's left for the fans with too much time on their hands. Let's just say I don't think Jurich would write this letter.
January 30, 200719 yr Let's just say I don't think Jurich would write this letter. You're right he wouldn't. That's what he has assistant SIDs for.

Who is the Michael Kehoe guy that appears to believe that he is "famous" that also wrote in complaining?
January 30, 200719 yr Author You're right he wouldn't. That's what he has assistant SIDs for. Maybe not. Jurich has been nothing but class for the past few years. When UK's President made those dumb remarks about UL and Barnhardt's futile proclamtion to dominate the state, Jurich took the high road. He even wrote a letter of apology to UK fans when the Orange Bowl spokesman made of fun of the Music City Bowl at a UL basketball game. I think Jurich is above this and is probably not happy with Rocco's letter. Or Rocco Gasparro could be Jurich's "Mark Twain.":sssh: Jurich is above this and UL, except for Rocco, should be/is above what some UK homer writes in a small town newspaper.
January 30, 200719 yr "Daddy, how come you spanked me when I messed up, but not Billy." That might apply if the offense were an NCAA infraction, and Louisville were reprimanded but UK wasn't. Vaught is a member of the press, and I don't see anything wrong for one of his subjects taking him to task for being clearly biased. The tone? That's another story. Rocco should maybe let someone else do the penning.

Others have the right to make fun of him as well though when he, the assisstant S.I.D. of a major university, writes a third grade letter to the editor of a small town newspaper 85 miles away... I bet Tom Gerhard and Michael Kehoe never thought they'd sandwich a major university's Assisstant S.I.D.'s letter. As Michael says on "The Office" to Dwight, maybe Rocoo is the Assisstant to the S.I.D.

January 30, 200719 yr Author The link to Vaught's story was passed around the UK fan base like a joint at a Grateful Dead concert... Was it really? My bad if it is old, I just saw it today on the Amnews website.

January 30, 200719 yr Was it really? My bad if it is old, I just saw it today on the Amnews website. He is talking about the one that Ripped Louisville, the thing is that they timed Rocco's letter to come out the same day that Vaught DID in fact do exactly what Rocco asked and ripped UK for doing what Vaught said he didn't think Brooks would ever do.here is Vaughts piece responding to UK's actions And Gametime is right that article was link to every Sports message board (including this one) and pinned to bulletin boards all over the state to warn off recruits from verbaling to Louisville and to promote the idea that Brooks was above that sort of stuff. Fact is no one is above it when it is your job to recruit the best players you can and millions of dollars and your reputation as a good coach are riding on it.
January 30, 200719 yr Author No. The one blasting UL. It was distributed far more than a "small town" paper piece... That's no surprise. Kind of like my College Sports Forum tenet: "When the numbers work for you, use them. When they don't, say it's the numbers within the numbers."

No surprise there either. Those editors are crafty.
January 30, 200719 yr Author Who is the Michael Kehoe guy that appears to believe that he is "famous" that also wrote in complaining? Funny you ask. Mike Kehoe has gained much acclaim by being the club pro at Campbellsville Country Club. In fact, Mike Kehoe was recently named the Kentucky Section Merchandiser of the Year Private Club Division: http://www.pgamediaguide.com/sectionawards.cfm?sectionid=17 Looks like he can really sell those golf shirts. When you think of famous golfers it's Tiger, Phil, Kenny Perry and Mike Kehoe. This story keeps getting better as he refers to himself as "one of at least three Danvillians who have lettered and become nationally known due to the University of Louisville's athletics department." PGA Merchandisers all across the land are rejoicing. :dancingpa
