Russell Red Devils (6-3) | East Carter Raiders (6-2)

? Grayson Hosts Diablos For De Facto District Championship

• Defense wins ?? A garbage time score last week is the only touchdown the Red Devils have allowed in district play. Russell has outscored its previous four district opponents a combined 154-11.
• East's bruising back Landon Yoak battered Russell for 206 yards and 3 TDs on 36 carries last season.
• The iron fisted grip Russell once held on the series has been pried loose. Wins over Russell and Ashland in recent years have helped transform expectations in Grayson. They're seeking a second straight district title, while the Devils are seeking their first since 2018.

Series History ?: Russell leads 33-3 all-time | East Carter has won two of the last three, including last year's 28-21 victory at Russell

Yes it is I think it will be a good one I am looking forward to it. It has been a good few years for my football Raiders and they have improved from their games vs. Boyd and Greenup. I don't think they are as good as last years team. I think it will be a tough game for the Raiders I am glad it is in Grayson. They fall sports have done well for the Raiders the Girls soccer lost in the regional final and the Boys won the soccer region again. Best of luck to both teams.

Does anybody know if this is going to be a live stream so we can watch it?

KoolHits 105.7 covers East Carter home games on YouTube. I'm anticipating they'll stream it. Here's the link to their page, but I'll also embed the video in here when it becomes available on Friday.

I like where the Devils are at right now. The schedule has been cooperative, but they're playing with a lot of confidence. The defense has been stiff - admittedly against a cooperative schedule - and the passing game has been, dare I say, explosive at times? Hankins and his receiving corp have stretched the field, averaging 24 yards per completion, which is roughly ten yards more than last year.

I think they can move the ball on East, but can they slow the runny Yoak (I've held that one in as long as I can). He was the story last year, dragging would-be Russell tacklers to move the chains. Ryland Pfau serves as the change of pace, home run hitter. That's one of the challenges awaiting the Red Devils this week.

Bump.

Could be one of the best matchups this week.

Two of the most important players on the field tonight:

East Carter RB Landon Yoak

Russell QB Elijah Hankins

On cue, Yoak breaks loose for a huge gain to Russell's 1 yard line on the second play of the game.

Touchdown East. Ryland Pfau punches it in from the 1.

7-0 Raiders

9:49 1Q

Russell answers in a more methodical fashion. Hankins calls his own number from five yards out. XP is no good.

7-6 East

5:25 1Q

Pfau rips off another long run for East into Russell territory at the 43.

My Raiders 2nd drive stalls and will have to punt.
