Top 5 Let Downs in my Bengal history

Number 5 - Super Bowl 23 January 1989 the Bengals kick a FG to go up 3 with 3 min left to glory only to watch Joe Montana make John Candy jokes as he led his team on a 92 yard drive culminating in a game winning TD pass to seal the game for the 49ers.  Fan Fave Tim Krumrie was lost to injury 14 plays in to the game.  49ers 20 Bengals 16

Number 4A - Christmas Eve 2006 - Carson led the Bengals on a 90 yard TD drive so all they needed to go to OT was to hit an extra point.  The exchange on the Extra point failed handing the Broncos the win and keeping the Bengals from clinching a playoff spot.  Denver 24 Bengals 23.  The next week the Bengals...well let's just call the next game 4B.

Number 4B - New Years Eve 2006 - The Bengals lose in OT as Rothlesburger connects with Santonio Holmes for a 67 yard TD handing them their 3rd straight loss and eliminating the Bengals from the playoffs.  Steelers 23 Bengals 17

Number 3 - January 2014 Wildcard game in Cincinnati: the underdog Chargers come in 9-7 while the Bengals were 11-5 (8-0!!).  I take my 11 year old son to the game and we watch Andy Dalton throw 3 picks and keep the no playoff win streak alive!  Chargers 27 Bengals 10

Number 2 - Super Bowl 16, January 1982: The Bengals can't score from the 49er 3 .  The sequence: Hand of to Pete Johnson for 2 yards.  hand off to Pete Johnson, no gain.  Swing to Charles Johnson.  No Gain.  Handoff to Pete Johnson who was, as some would describe it, tackled by the entire 49er D Line.  The Bengals also turned it over 3 times to the 49er 1.  49ers 26 Bengals 21

Number 1 - The playoff game in Cincy vs. Steelers in January of 2016 that featured on 4th down and game on an uncatchable ball, Vontaze knocked out Antonio Brown and before the next play, Pacman got his own flag.  The result: with 30 free penalty yards the Steelers take the chip shot for the win.  This ending is cemented at # 1 and in the all time meltdown Hall of Fame.  Steelers 18 Bengals 16

Did I miss any?

I guess there were these up for consideration:

Jan 2016 Wild Card - Play 1 Bengals lose Carson on a 66 yard pass to Chris Henry to a knee injury?  Steelers 31, Bengals 17

Oh I don't know....TODAY? Season on the line potential game!  Zach goes super conservative to setup a 50+ yard OT FG after his team marched up and down the field most of the game.  Bad snap, late hold, missed FG dropping the team to 1-4?  Ravens 41, Bengals 38

The blessing that goes along with being old is the pain of these games becomes dull and tend to disappear in “long agos”.  Thanks for so precisely renewing the pain….kind of like a slow root canal.?

I mean not much to say that hasn’t been said. That game sucked. Offense played great, defense sucked. Special teams then let it down at the end too. With that said while there are other reasons they l

Bengals two games out of first with 12 games left. They pretty much still control their own destiny.

Hmmmm, that is a tough call.

I would 100# do it if they could. They just would have to be willing to make a tough decision and get rid of a player in the off season like a Hubbard to save a little bit of that money back. They would save 11 million against the cap by releasing Hubbard after this season.

Plus Crosby is only 27, so he fits still in that under 30 age for the next couple of years that they like their players to be in.

MD 2020 - that's some nasty stuff.  I remember getting really sick from that in my younger years.
