UNLV QB leaving team

"UNLV quarterback Matthew Sluka left the undefeated Rebels on Tuesday night over claims of unfulfilled verbal NIL promises from a UNLV assistant coach, a decision that illuminates the fragility of the current collegiate system and how talent is procured and retained."

Setting a dangerous precedent for other players.   Schools will now be thoroughly within their right to tell a player:

"Hey, you got your money.  We don't care about your pro career.  You ARE playing in the Idaho potato bowl.  If you don't, people and organizations will need their money back."

Sounds like he committed to UNLV based on a verbal agreement with an assistant coach. If so, that’s his own fault, IMO.

When can he transfer to a new school and play?

Also, if I was promised money and the school didn't deliver I would be out too.  Assuming that is what happened.

Portal opens in December.

This is absolutely killing the college game that many love, this kid will transfer and get another deal that may go South also, terrible thing and look for what was once college athletics.
