Yeah, I know this is not a score you would expect to see, however, I want to give this very small school in far West Kentucky some praise as they deserve it. Each season it seems like we have someone who has fallen on very hard times who starts to overcome and this season so far, the Bombers fit the bill.

Ballard is on a 3 game winning streak, breaking a 23 game losing skid. They have scored 40 plus in all 3 games and have scored 60 plus in the last two. Why is this important? Take a look at these last 5 seasons, where there was very serious discussion more than once about dissolving the program altogether.

2023 Record 0-9, scored 40 pts for the season

2022 Record 0-10, scored 158 pts for the season

2021 Record 1-10, scored 46 pts for the season

2020 Record 0-7, scored 16 pts for the season

2019 Record 1-9, scored 95 pts for the season

They have now scored 210 points in 5 games in 2024 and 3 wins already after scoring only 355 points (7.55 ppg) and winning 2 games the previous 5 seasons (47 games) combined.

First year head coach Jonathan Hedges had his work cut out for him, but thus far, has done an amazing, if not improbable job.

Way to go Bombers!

Great heads up, TP. Glad for Ballard Mem. to enjoy some success. As you noted, they have had some tough years as of late. One year we had to travel to their place and they barely had enough players to field a team. Hopefully that is turning around for them now.

Way to go Bombers!

I LOVE stories like these!  Thanks TP!

I don't think we understand the hardship of long term losing if you follow a team that has some success.

The bootstrap will to continue is likely a very very tough row to hoe.

Super Happy for the Bombers!  Great nickname!

The rest of their schedule includes:

Franklin Christian Academy (Franklin, TN)

Russellville

Fulton County

Caverna

Muhlenberg County

So hopefully they can keep it rolling!

Congrats to Ballard Memorial!
