Franklin County at Spencer County Predictions/Updates

The Flyers come into this one off a bye week where they are sitting 3-0. The wins are all impressive as they had close games with Scott County and LCA, before beating North Laurel by 35. Christian Moore is having a great year with 430 yards and 6 touchdowns so far. Their defense has 24 TFLs, 5 sacks, and 5 turnovers forced in three games. 

Spencer County is 3-1 on the year with the latest a 17 point win over Fairdale. Jarett Stewart leads the way at QB and he has 4 TDs with 413 yards so far on the year. Jake Greene  and Danny Armstrong both lead the way on the ground for the Bears with near 200 yards. 

I don't know much about Spencer County, so someone can possibly give a little more information on them. Do they have enough in the tank to knock off Franklin County from the unbeatens?

Spencer County is usually fundamentally sound and well coached.  They will win more than they will lose.  But no, they do not have the horses to stay with Franklin County.  They are similar to Franklin County in that they depend heavily on the run.  They are just not as good at it as Franklin County.  Spencer plays hard and they might hang for a while but Franklin should wear them down and pull away.

Franklin County runs the clock late in the 3rd quarter. This will be the theme in district play. I think Spencer definitely will go toe to toe early in the game, but over time FCHS is just a couple of levels ahead of them and everyone else in that district.

My thoughts precisely. You will not find a finer instructor in fundamentals than Mike Marksbury, but this is a game where the Jimmy’s and Joe’s runs over the X’s and O’s.
