Nothing better than a first week rivalry game to begin the season. Adair enters years two of the Steve Stonebraker era and are coming off a 7-4 season with many returners. Lane Grant returns to his natural position RB after 1500 yards rushing and 20 TDS at QB last year. Solomon Stonebraker returns at wide receiver and the Indians also add QB Easton Jessie from Glasgow who had 21 TD passes last year and has a D1 offer from Toledo. Russell County has a new coach as well in Steven French whose father Larry French won 2 state titles over a decade ago at Boyle County. French has been an assistant at Russell for a couple of years and has also coached under his dad at Southwestern. Adair won this game 40-0 last season but Russell was without starting QB Owen Loy who was injured but will be back for this game. Russell only went 1-9 last season and will look to improve while Adair has its eyes on a district title. 

Adair should win easily.

Since Russell has their QB this year I’ll go 40-7 Indians.

Adair should have no trouble in this game.  If the Indians stay healthy, I believe they could make a deep playoff run.

Anyone know, how much tickets are for this game and if you can buy them at the gate?

If you follow 3A football and don't really have close ties to any team in particular, this Adair County squad might be worth investing some interest in. I'm eager to see how much the addition of Jessie raises their ceiling and how much more dynamic the offense can be.

I think the Indians pour it on the Lakers tomorrow night and set the tone for a great season. Maybe their best in a long time.

I'm picking Adair but heard from some that saw both the Indians and Lakers scrimmage Garrard and that there may not be as big of a gap between Adair and Russell as some people might think. I'm not sure of the scores of the two scrimmages. I've never read too much into scrimmages but Russell does return a lot (albeit from a team that struggled but showed some potential at times), has a fresh coach at the top, new stadium/excitement in the community. Like I said, I expect Adair to win but in a manner where the game is t not a blowout but never really in doubt.
