January 23, 200719 yr Then it seems as if only getting a one game suspension is a little more justified.
January 23, 200719 yr I was suprised he was suspended Huh? So you get 10 or 15 games for landing a punch but you think he should get nothing for missing with one? I hope I'm reading that wrong...
January 23, 200719 yr Huh? So you get 10 or 15 games for landing a punch but you think he should get nothing for missing with one? I hope I'm reading that wrong... I only watched it the night of the game live. I did not think he even attempted to swing at Antonio. Either that or it was such a poor attempt I did not even think anything of it. Watching the game and listenting to the commentators, I do not recall them even thinking a punch was thrown. Antonio's shot to Madson (what started the altercation) was a lot more violent than anything these two guys did.
January 23, 200719 yr It was definitely a punch, and it clearly whiffed. However, the intent was the same as JR and 'Melo, he just wasn't able to execute it quite as well. I don't think he deserved 15, but I sure think 1 for throwing a punch for a Mega-star looks like favoritism by the League.

I looked at it as more of a swipe, b/c he though McDyess was throwing a punch. I dont think Melo deserved 15 either, but the difference in the two is not that KG didnt connect, but that when it was over it was over. Things were cooling down in the Melo fight and he goes back and starts it all up again by hitting Collins. Melo is probably a bigger star fan wise than KG right now. No doubt KG gets more done on the floor, but I dont know if I would call this favoritism at all.
January 23, 200719 yr Watched the game live. Garnett did not throw a punch, he thought about it, came real close to doing it, but restrained himself.
January 23, 200719 yr Author You guys that are defending him must not have seen it! I can almost say that I wouldn't mind throwing down with him after seeing it because it might have been the BIGGEST SISSY punch I've ever seen! To his credit McDyess would have beaten him down so he was trying to get out of there. I called him a sissy because it was a sissy punch, no other way to describe it! Here's how it went: McDyess committs a hard foul on one of Garnetts teammates. Garnett pushes him almost like a 1st grader (you could tell he realized what he was doing in mid stroke so he tried to stop but it was too late). McDyess then stepped at him while KG started backpeddling and Garnett swung like I did in 2nd grade in total fear! I like KG but I was really feeling sorry for him. He looked like a chick! There is ZERO doubt he hit him but it was more of a Chick Slap!

January 23, 200719 yr Just watched the video and some people have painted a rosier picture of the incident than what actually occured. He was certainly throwing a punch. It definately deserves more than a one game suspension. I personally though Carmello's fifteen game suspension was way too weak. Of course I think McDyess should get suspended as well for the hard foul and the subsequent shove of Garnett. If Garnett and Melo were to actually brawl...I'd take Garnett...at least the guy saw it coming and he kept his fists up...Melo might have been in the locker room before the other guy even knew he was hit.

If he were standing in front of you, you wouldn't even consider it, and if you did, you'd be in a lot of pain afterwards.

You are right because I am 6 foot, I guarantee you that if I was his size I wouldn't blink when thinking about standing toe to toe with him. It brought back a lot of fights I saw in Elem School! I respect him for standing up for his teammate and I really like KG. Seeing a man that big push like a 12 year old, slam the ball while backing up then making an attempt at swinging like a girl made me feel sorry for him. He's lucky McDyess didn't decide to wax him! He had his hands down by his waste the whole time.
