Could Tomlin walk away?

I think it’s less about Tomlin’s ability and more that they could maybe just use a change. They’re obviously consistently solid, as evidenced by never having a losing season. But how long as it been since the Steelers have really been in contention? They had a solid 2020 season and then lost to the Browns. That was their only season above .600 since 2017, which is the last time they were truly a “very good” team. We’ll see what happens this week but if they lose, it’ll have been seven seasons with no playoff wins. That’s a long time. It’s been 13 years since the last Super Bowl anppearance and they’ve only been close to getting back once. They’re starting to get close to the longest drought they’ve had without an appearance. These are all reasons why a new face might be desired. They’ve been very consistent and that’s laudable too - he’s done a fine job but after a certain amount of time, fine will no longer cut it.

I always wondered how Tomlin would be viewed once Big Ben was past his prime.

I would think if the Steelers went another direction there would be demand for Tomlin.  He seems like a guy that doesn't mess things up so if you give him talent I assume he will be highly successful.

As far as Steeler fans wanting him gone, the Steelers have an issue at QB and there is nothing Tomlin can do about that.

Dare I say, Tomlin's resume the last 5 years or so looks a little like Marvin Lewis.

3 out of the last 5 seasons Lewis had in Cincy were losing records. Tomlin has zero losing seasons in his entire tenure in Pittsburgh.  Not really seeing the comparison.

Style of play. Defense, run the ball, playing close games because of the style ... but you're right, too much of a stretch because the results are so different.
