Hats off to the CCH/NDA band. They've come a long way at the direction of "Sir" from NDA. They added to the atmosphere. I love hearing a good pep band.

So does this win basically mean that Holmes and Holy Cross will play each other in the first round of the districts?

Yes they will and I don't think Holy Cross will get by Holmes in the districts.

No one in the 9th will beat CovCath if they have only 4 turnovers in a game. That is what determines their record. In the games they have lost they have had over 15 turnovers. If they can keep it in single figures they will win the region.

How much will the loss of Schult effect the Colonels?

Big win for the Colonels but very unfortunate about Schult.

"I thought we scored enough points to win tonight," Goetz said. "I give them total credit. They made shots. Offensively, they played great. We played good; they played great."

It will not be as devastating as it would have been if this were the first time he was hurt. They played 11 games without him. If he were playing all year, I'd have to say it could have cost them the region. The only saving grace in the 9th region is the fact that the only teams that have a real chance to beat the Colonels don't really have a dominating big man, that being Holmes and St. Henry.

All that being said, if you're out there Billy Schult, you're in my thoughts and prayers. You were a pleasure to watch play and set the bar high for your teammates in work ethic. You will be sorely missed.

I am not sure we ever saw the real Billy Schult this season. Billy is a trooper, and he loves wearing the CovCath jersey, when you think of CovCath basketball, you should think of Billy, as he is the type of player that CovCath has thrived with over the years. A true team player.....one who will do whatever it takes to help CovCath win. He will be missed.....

Will Covcath have an answer for Rice of Holmes, assuming they meet in the district championship? Wouldn't Schult have guarded him before?

My guess is that Schult would not have guarded Rice but, rather, would have guarded the 5 such as Clark or Nelson.

Grimes and Rice are very similar players. Less than 2 inches apart in height, above average jump shots, incredibly fast first step (especially for their height), and both have the possibility of having a big game every night.

Of course this is a tremendous loss, but Mike L has worked wonders this year without Shult and others (Bo, Brown, Maile) for games at a time.

CCH was tied with HC at halftime. CCH made adjustments in the second half and beat HC soundly. Mike L had a great game plan.

Holmes will win the region...end of story

 That's a great and relevant addition to a thread entitled "CCH 68 Holy Cross 55". Why don't you go post that in "16th Region Poll 1/21/07" or "Ryle 42 Highlands 34"

You have to excuse some of the Holmes faithful. I for one know it won't be easy. CCH is doing a great job right now and getting the job done. This win over HC is a HUGE W and will help them come district and region time.
