Mercer County travels to Dyehouse Stadium at Garrard County friday night for a HUGE district showdown. District Championship on the line...who you got?

Garrard is one of those teams that gets better every week. I think this will be a good one.

Give me Titans by 10.

Garrard has gotten a little better but Mercer is better than they showed against Casey. Give me Mercer 35 GC 20.

Mercer wins. I don't think Garrard can keep Thaddeus, Denim or Ashton in check.

Garrard can win if they take care of the football and limit the big plays from Drakeford and Mays.

Garrard has an absolute WEAPON in kicker Zak Dailey, who is money from 40 yards and in.

I'm a homer, so I'm picking Garrard 24-21.

Dyehouse Stadium will be packed, I can guarantee ya that. This community loves their friday nights, especially when it's for the district championship.

I'm glad that Garrard has been figuring it out as the year goes on. They were underwhelming in the beginning of the year.

Mercer is just too much for them this week though. I'll take 30-20 Titans.

Should be a good game and atmosphere hopefully the rain slows down towards game time.  Some stats from both teams.  Casey out gained Mercer Rushing and Receiving in their last game to show what kind of night it was for Mercer.  On the season Garrard has run a total of 387 plays compared to 319 for Mercer.  That is total of 68 plays which is like playing an extra game.  Mercer has had some big long plays, defensive and special teams TD's that may account for some of that. Not sure if the rain helps or hurts one team over the other.  Garrard has more passing attempts and yards on the year over Mercer.  Mercer has only passed  33% of time for the season.

Garrard

Parsons QB 79/141 56% completions for 1,078 yards 9 INT's & 6TD's

Simmons RB 121 rushes for 548 yards 4.53 yds per carry

Peak RB 37 rushes for 226 yards 6.11 yds per carry

Elleman 17 rushes for 56 yards 3.29 yds per carry

Elleman 35 receptions for 548 yards 15.66 yds per reception

Peak 26 receptions for 294 yards 11.31 yds pers reception

Mercer

Mayes QB 59/97 61% completions for 944 yards 6 INT's & 6 TD's

Griffieth RB 80 rushes for 451 yards 5.64 yards per carry

Mays  76 rushes for 447 yards 5.88 yards per carry

Drakeford 32 rushes for 365 yards 11.41 yards per carry.

Drakeford 23 receptions for 386 yards 16.78 yds per reception

Perry 10 receptions for 163 yards 16.3 yds per reception.

Garrard seems to be playing well but I'm going with Mercer by two or three touchdowns.

This is the key for Garrard, in my opinion. Take care of the ball, maximize your own scoring changes, and keep Mercer's offense off the field. Avoid turnovers if you're the Golden Lions and maybe get a couple from Mercer would help, too.

Final 48-20
Just as expected Mays and Mercer exploded on the Lions early and pretty much made plays all over the field. Mercer was more focused and it showed.
