If UK does not recruit this kid and he goes to UofL or some other school,and becomes a very good player The Tubby Bashers will have a field day.

It wouldn't take that much to get them going . Like another said, just wait till we lose again and the "Fire Tubby" chants will be heard again.

I would trade Sheray Thomas for this kid right now! Im not trying to knock Sheray but there is something special about this kid. He may only be 6"5 but plays like he is 6"8.:ylsuper:

His numbers are off the charts but I'd be hestitant unless he shows he can stretch the court a bit, not too many 6'5" PF's out there. With this being said I'd love to see him up close.

TCAT4LIFE are you an Etown fan? I was just commenting that I wish I had a picture of that dunk. First dunk of the game against North Hardin and it brought the house down. WOW! Great picture!!!

 

There is no question Steffphon has the ability to play for UK right now. He is only 17 years old and only looks to improve and grow. He's got the desire, the attitude, and most importantly the heart! He's a mountain!

 

What does Tubby have to lose with giving Steffphon a shot? I mean really. Thomas, Perry, Orbzut, Moss, Stockton, Carrier, Carter, the list goes on and on,each and every one of these players got a shot? These guys were as good as Steffphon coming out of high school? Not a chance!!

Last year as a Junior All Star he stetched the court easily for a cool 46 against the Senior All Star team. He hit shots from everywhere on the floor.

Im an Ashland Paul Blazer fan. I was curious about his size since I had never seen him, so I searched some UK sites and found the pic.

 

I was undecided whether this kid should get an offer from UK at first. But the more I read about him the more I think UK should offer. Sounds like he LOVES the game of basketball and really wants to be a Wildcat. IMO, that's the kind of player we need, whether he's highly thought of on a national level or not.

Steffphon never stops playing, nor does he want to! I have watched him since 7th grade and he never waivers. He is on task, on mission and never waivers. Not one ounce of attitude. He is king of Etown High School and you would never know it. Humble, hard working Ky kid that deserves a shot.

Sounds like the kid is the total package, maybe the Panthers can get on a run just like they did in '99.

Why would UK give the kid from Alaska a scholarship and not offer Pettigrew?

Does UK have another scholly to offer after Patterson, Lucas, Moses, Stewart, Williams? If not, they would have to pull an offer from one of these to offer Pettigrew, and we can tell from the discussion on the board that people don't like when schools pull offers from kids. I don't see anything wrong with showing interest in the kid. If he can get an academic scholly, then great. If he qualified for finacial aid, we might see a Marquis Estill type situation.

 

As for comparison to Lofton, I was one who agreed with not offering Lofton. I agreed with the fact that he is an incredible shooter, but did not think he had the desire or conditioning to become a defensive player in the Tubby system. I had seen Lofton play for two years, and thought he was a good High School Player, but there were better choices for UK to go after, and they did. I commend Lofton for working himself into the player that many did not believe he could be. (Not just Tubby. Look at the recruiting ranking guru's)
