Those Holmes teams of the mid-1970s must have been strong teams.

  • Good time for the Colonels to rest the injured and give their underclassmen a chance to get some experience.

  • Will be interesting to see how the QB competition next year shakes out. I still think Cash is the guy in 24 or 25, but I think both are good enough to win a ton of games as the starter.  Regardle

  • Hoping we see some QB action from Dylan Gaiser. He was a major force for the Colonels during his Freshman year.

Colonels by however many they want.   I don't think that will be a lot.  They'll likely rest some players.  If I'm them, I go out and get the running clock ASAP, then play reserves for the remainder of the time.

I posted this off-handedly. Absolutely no disrespect to my Colonels (or the Bulldogs). I've placed a picture in another thread of the '75 "Thin 30 (roster)." These were all pre Wooten Field teams when Coach Ray and staff were rebuilding almost from scratch.

I had a nodding acquaintance with almost everyone on all three teams and am lifelong friends with several.

In short ...

Covington Catholic, like some one said, by how much they want. Holmes just got hit hard by graduation last year, 2 off that team got  offers from Eastern to play football, Holmes has been pretty good the last few years, with around 28 on the roster and 7 are freshman, it is a building year for sure, lots of respect for Coach Nevels and staff, hope the players hang in there, they will be much improved next year. Hope everyone stays healthy, I think CCH can make a deep run. Good luck to both teams.

Weitzel's PAT is good.
