Bowling Green (3-2) at Ohio County (1-4)

The Purples will roll up the old Nather Parkway to Hartford to take on the Eagles of Ohio County in the first district game for both teams.  With this season’s classification realignments comes change and the change for Ohio County is pretty tough as they move from a more manageable (IMO) 5A District 1 (with Owensboro at the head, but the other teams below them are more manageable for a team like Ohio County) to 5A District 2 with BG, South Warren and Greenwood, who all reside inside the top 9 teams in 5A, according to the latest BGP Poll.

This will be the 11th meeting between the 2 teams that began back in 1983.  BG has won all 10 prior meetings with the most recent meeting being last years Regional Quarterfinal where BG prevailed 49-0.

Ohio County just has not been able to get a lot going for them this season until last Fridays game against Edmonson County.  The Eagles rolled up over 300 rushing yards on the night and wore down the Wildcats winning 33-12.  Two Eagles scored 2 TDs las week including Luke Barton and Noah Phelps, who had nearly 200 yards rushing himself.

Bowling Green comes into this game off a solid performance for Homecoming vs a very physical Central Hardin squad 45-6.  Deuce Bailey another solid performance was 12 for 16 with 167 yards and 3TDs.  All 3 TDs this week were to SO WR Travey Barber, who was invited to the Notre Dame game this week.  But like last week, the story for me is the continued improvement of the BG defense.  The real test will be the South Warren game, but for now; BG defense is clearly improving.

This one seems one sided to me.  What do you say?

I saw on the KHSAA site that this is a Thursday game for anyone who might be making the trip.

With the size of Ohio County it’s a shame they can’t put a decent football team on the field on Friday nights. They have the big bodies and athletes in the school to be competitive just have never seemed to get it rolling. BG by a ton, I’ll say 60-0.

I definitely feel bad for the poor folks of Ohio County getting sent to District 2.

Correct!  Thx, I had Guru update the thread heading to 9/21.

It should also be noted that this game was shifted to Thursday due to referee shortages.

Game Day for the Purples at Ohio County!

It's a Thursday Night game due to the referee shortage.  It will be my first trip to Frank Barnes Stadium in Hartford.  Just works out that I can make it!

The game will be streamed here:

- Sporting Times (stfanclub.com)

There is also a great article on BG and other area teams there!  Check it out!

It reports BG QB Deuce Bailey "is ranked within the top 5 statewide in pass yards (1566), pass yards per game (313), passing touchdowns (17), and completion percentage (71.7). In Class 5A, he’s ranked first or second in each of those categories."  The BG signal caller is having a great season!

Go Purples!
