I thought that 02-03 team was pretty talented myself...Fitch, Bogans, Hayes, Daniels, Estill, Camara, Hawkins, Barbour...they might not have had 5-star power, but they had a lot of very good college basketball players. When you add them together, they were plenty talented, IMO.

:thumb: :thumb: Imo too many people put all the emphasis on the hamburger boys and the like. Good college basketball players that are willing to do what it takes to win are what I want. If they are a McD AA all the better, but it is not a requirement. JMO

UK is looking good

Great game from the Cats. 12 turnovers not bad and some of those were late when it did not matter. Another stat that I liked was 70% FT. 50% behind the Arc is not a bad team stat. Held SC to 26.8% FG shooting for the game.:eek:

Good win by the Wildcats!! Any time you go on the road and win by 38, it is good. Heck, if you go on the road and win every game by eight, that is good. Keep playing hard and do not forget what got you there. I am sure Coach Smith will not let them forget.

Amen to that OR, Amen to that!! Some people do not think that way. They do not realize how tough conference games are.

As is this years team...The comparison I'm referring to is similar type players....Besides Bogans, that team had no big time recruits...Fitch, Daniels, Estill, Camara and Hawkins were good players, but, none of them were thought to be the best in there class coming out of HS...Fitch was a lightly recruited late pickup, Hawkins was nabbed by the Cats over New Mexico St(not exactly a bigtime school), Camara was the 3rd best player on his HS team at Oak Hill, Daniels was being recruited by UK and several Mid America teams(not exactly the Dukes, NCs, UCLAs of the world) and Hayes was thought to be more of a great athlete than a basketball player.

Actually this years team has more McD all americans then that one did...

One thing thats promissing thus far in conference is that UK already has 3 conference road wins....They still have 7 to play at home and only 5 more on the road...You would think they could, at worse go 6-2 at home and 2-3on the road. Thats 11-5, worse case scenario, but, more likely 12-4 and possibly 13-3...That would make there record between 22-8 to 24-6, which IMO, would get them a 3 or 4 seed, come tourney time, possibly a 2, but, no worse than a 5...

I'll tell you what I like the most...UK is starting to blow some of these inferior opponents out, which is what good teams do. I don't expect it to happen every time, but it concerns me when we continually squeak by lesser foes...I realize sometimes the team just isn't going to be able to get fired up and close games will happen sometimes. But, it shouldn't happen every time...it's a huge positive sign, IMO, that UK has buried a couple of recent opponents (Auburn & South Carolina)...it shows that they're starting to come together and perform better and it should give them a lot of confidence. I really like what I see...

 

I was honestly expecting UK to be a very strong team before the season, but I was having serious doubts after some sloppy, uninspired performances that looked a lot like last year. I think the move to put Jasper at the point was the beginning of getting things going...I think that move took some pressure of Bradley and freed him up to play better and it has allowed guys to fall into their roles.

I'm wondering what has happened to all the bashers? Are they like bears? They hibernate in January-March?

When Kentucky shoots that well, especially from three point range, there are not many teams in the enitre country who can beat us. Hopfully we can shoot like that against the Gators and the Vols, and I think we would beat both of them. I was obviously impressed with the offense, but the D was what really impressed me. Like other people have said, this team is starting to remind me of the '02-03 team. Now it is on to Vandy Saturday in Rupp. GO BIG BLUE!
