Mayfield desperately needs to open up the playbook and throw some new wrinkles in. They need to throw new things in on offense every week from now to mid November. Predictable play calling is one thing that got them beat last week. Open it up!

This Mayfield fan has no complaints, about nothing PT beat Mayfield, those linemen for PT have been eating some groceries. Once again congratulations PT.

  • Not really for this thread, but nothing to complain about. We had every chance to win the game, but the blue tornado brilliantly shut down every attempt. Well done.

Mayfield is no where near as good as they were last year.

Thank you that's what I've been seeing in Mayfield for several years....the last 3 or 4 teams in the playoffs have figured them out especially those predictable screens....that's why there is a drought of state championship in Mayfield.

Explain how they're not...3 of the top 5 and 4 in the top 10 in the region, more came back than what left especially the transfer from Murray, 3 kids have reclassed and playing 5 years of football...Use your weapons and change up your scheme especially offensively.

I totally disagree with that statement. Paducah is ALOT better than they were last year. OCath is a lot better than they were last year. LCA is ALOT better than they were last year. Mayfield is better than they were last year but haven’t improved as much as those 3 teams I named. I mention those teams because Mayfield will probably play all three at some point this season.

Yes. Mayfield has got to open up their imagination on offense. 10-12 years ago Mayfield offensive scheme was far ahead of 95% of the teams in the state. That’s not the case anymore. They’re still running the same things over and over

I would say that the group of skill players at Mayfield are as good as they have had in a long time.  The issue is on the offensive line which is where they lost some really good players from last years group.  If they can get that group developed they will be in the hunt come November.

As an Owensboro fan. I can say we will be in trouble with Catholic Friday night. We can win but we also could be blown out if we don't improve in the secondary. To me that's where Catholic get WAY better. I have watched you guys in our scrimmage back in August and I have watched Catholic this week. Right now if I had to make a prediction if Catholic and Mayfield meet in November I will go with Catholic. Mayfield was impressive with their goaline stand and can stop the run, but if Mayfield struggled stopping our passing game then it will be a real struggle to stop Catholic passing game.

Correct: 10-12 years ago Mayfield was 1 of the 1st teams in WKY to figure out that most HS football teams don't have the athletes to stop a 4 or 5 wide offense. Now teams do and coaches have figured it out.  Now I'll totally agree w/the offensive line issues but sometimes your RB etc has to just go make it happen when blocking isn't there. FACTS: look it up, Dabney hasn't scored a TD in the last 6 games that's almost a entire season for some teams, not acceptable and he never should've been moved from corner to safety. The transfer from Murray had over 1,000 yards rushing on 87 carries do the math on the average per carry the best in KY high school football last year and is ranked somewhere in KY football history and he has no carries or catches from RB position.  In fact when is the last time a RB has caught a pass from that position. Even LCA  uses their brut of a RB in their passing gsme. Not counting other play makers Mayfield has...it's time to OPEN it up...those teams listed are more open up than Mayfield and will be a problem late in playoffs..

Mayfield not getting Biggers touches out of the backfield is what got them beat last week and what will get them beat later in the season. You have to get that kid a solid 5 touches out of the backfield per game.

I think Dabney had 2 touches last week and Biggers had 0. I will say they dropped a couple passes but there is NO excuse that those 2 players should combine for 2 touches in a game of that magnitude. The coaches dropped the ball big time to say the least.

A bunch of Chicken Littles.

Mayfield hasn;t lost more than 2 games a season since 08.  And maybe Biggers and Dabney weren't open or they were targeted and didn't make the catch. I know Biggers dropped 2 passes.

OC has never beaten Mayfield , I suspect that will go on if they meet this season.

Mayfield does a good job spreading the ball around and if you key on someone they will go elsewhere such as Morris and Hoover who both had fine games last week.

Let the coaches coach, Mayfield has gone to 9 of the last 12 State championship games, most anybody would say that is a success.

I never said throw Biggers the ball. I said put him in the backfield a handful of times per game where he averaged 12 yards per carry last year over the course of the entire season on 87 carries. If you think that is an outlandish idea then I don’t know how much you really know about football.

Maybe they will at some point, but the coaches have game plans. Maybe you should get with them and give them some great ideas.
