I think so, too. I may be wrong but it feels like they are inching a little closer to the "next level" (whatever that is), something that has always been something of a glass ceiling for them. I'm intrigued by the Gators.

That next level is beating BG, which my Gators have never done. 0-thirty?? in the school’s history. Good teams, playoff wins, etc. They have never gotten over that hump.

I think this is doable for the Gators.  But I think you have to at least beat OCath or South Warren.  Maybe both.

I know the Gators want to beat BG, but to me can they beat Owensboro at Rash Stadium Week 2?

That is the question I have.  They were close last year and a few years before that.  To make it to the Regional Championship Round (Round 3 of the playoffs) is the next step for me for Greenwood.  They can take that step without having to beat BG at home this year.

I think it’s hard to use the 6 and 5 record for last year. Considering in that 6 and 5 year they were starting a freshman QB and their top two receivers were sophomores. So they all are another year older now and all three are D1 type talents. Second I think the Beechwood scrimmage also played a small factor into the ranking. Even though it was just a scrimmage, the fact that Cooper kind of had their way in it also has played a factor into where people rank them. Which Calpreps is my favorite rankings to use, but usually takes about half way through the season when it gets more data before it becomes a pretty accurate ranking.

The best part though is everything will work itself out since a lot of these top teams are in the same district as another top team. So it will get to be played out on the field and work itself out in the end.

If all three are D1 type talents then they should be #1. A D1 QB throwing to even two Div 1–AA type receivers would be incredible for any program. Even if they are sophomores and juniors.
