Raceland makes it way down US 23 to mountains of Letcher County for a date with Cougars. Raceland is coming in at 0-1 on the season with an opening loss to Ashland 28-21. The Cougars are 1-0 on the season with its opening win against Shelby Valley 36-26. Letcher County hopes to make it 2-0 on the season with a win. 
 

Who wins this matchup? Does Raceland get the first win of the season? Does Letcher County go 2-0?

I admittedly know very little about Letcher, but I feel the Rams will bounce back after a touch loss to a very good team in week one.  I think that loss will look much better as the season goes on for Raceland.

LCC should have a pretty tough squad.

Young defense last year that returns all but one or two kids on that side of the ball. They lost their offensive workhorse, but return most of that unit, as well. Had Johnson Central beat last year before JC scored inside the final minute.

Raceland needs to be ready to play. Being at home will help. Letcher has a 3 hour drive ahead of them on gameday.

This could be a very important game for the Rams. Letcher is probably the most winnable game of the first few weeks. Lose here, and they may be staring at 0-4 and a .500 regular season. It's not that they care how good the record looks, but you want to win some of these games against bigger schools to grab those precious RPI points.

And then there's team morale. How will Raceland respond if they do fail to win any of the bigger games on the schedule? Win this one and take the edge off early.

I would expect Raceland to bounce back after giving Ashland a tough game. I think Raceland grabs this one 35-28.
