I think depending on your house layout, one more eero would be a good idea. I've been very happy with mine, and instead of a pro, I got the beacon, which is portable....just plug it in wherever you need it. I take mine outside a lot when I'm watching tv/listening to music on my deck. The only disadvantage to the beacon is it is completely wireless...no ethernet port.

I am not sure any beacon's are offered with the same level of tech as the Pro 6E altafiber issued me so I just now ordered another Pro 6E to "mesh" with the original and it is only $5 a month which sounds fair for a $200 item.

I will report back in a couple of months, sooner if there is anything to report.  Thank you.

How did you get this through Altafiber?  My ring door bell keeps having issues with a weak signal and I've been trying to decide how much I care.  It's the only thing in my house with any issues whatsoever.

You can either call them, I could have added it directly from my altafiber account, or I believe I could walk in one of their stores unannounced and make it happen but I would call first on that one.  I called right before I posted, chatted up a tech for a few minutes and then called back and ordered it and made sure they didn't try to rip me off again like when I added NFL Red Zone.  So they programmed it in their computer and told me to hoof it up to altafiber store tomorrow and get my additional Pro 6E.  And the email confirming it told me not to attempt to set it up before 1700 tomorrow, lol.

If you have altafiber and already have a Pro 6E like me I would get another identical one.  If not, and you have a lesser model, I may buy something lesser or a beacon like @rjs4470 mentioned.  I think Amazon owns eero so you can get anything and everything on Amazon.

I bought everything through amazon. I got refurbished units, and got 1 pro and two regular eeros for $299, and picked up the Beacon later. I have this setup going for 4 years now and I've had zero issues, with a lot of devices connected (over 30).

This appears to be almost universal and it is a huge selling point.

With just a wireless router, it got to the point where I couldn't even use zoom to hold meetings and my home theater system which was all wireless pretty much stopped functioning. I really didn't realize how many devices I had that were using my network. Like I mentioned, I tried extenders, and boosters but they provided no benefit. Once I got the eero's everything just worked. Plus I could easily hardwire a few devices (like my office computer and two of my TV's). With the amount of bandwith people are using, I don't know how anyone can get by without a mesh network, unless they only have a handful of devices.

Just to follow up here, I went to the altafiber store yesterday and I was in there less than 5 minutes and they gave me the new Pro 6E.  Went home, plugged it in, went into the app, added it, and boom everything is working like a dream.  Additionally, I plugged my new system into the second 6E I just added so while the new system is still working off a wireless connection I feel much more confident having it directly plugged into the eero mesh system.

If I have any issues I will report back on them.

Guru, I'm old and not that tech saavy. We recently were forced to "upgrade" our system using that EERO.  Worked OK for about a week and now about every 6-8 hours the signal wants me to press OK on the remote to continue otherwise the signal goes to what looks like a screen saver freeze type of thing.  Also, we have issues where the "signal" just does not come on.  I just get a graphic with a circle spinning.  Called Altafiber to get help with this and was told I would probably need some sort of WiFi enhancer and it would be another monthly fee.  Angrily I told them hell no because they were the ones who forced the upgrade on me, we never had an issue until now.  Also, back to the pressing of OK on remote every 6-8 hours to watch programming, I was told that issue cannot be removed(Unless someone here knows how rectify this).  It's nuts!!

I have some questions.

1. On pressing OK on the remote. For me, if I don't touch my remote for 4 hours (I think) I get a message saying either press OK on the remote to keep viewing and if I do not it goes to a screen saver with no sound.  As long as I am using the remote (changing stations/something) this is not an issue.  Are you turning your altafiber on and then not touching the remote for 6 to 8 hours while your TV is on one station?

2.  How far is your eero device from the TV that gives you the graphic with the spinning circle and what is the line of sight like between the device and your TV?  In other words, straight shot or walls, ducts, floors, other electronic devices, etc?

3.  Is your eero software up to date?  You can check this in your eero app on your phone.

4.  Seems basic, but how often have you unplugged/restarted your eero router and the altafiber device inside your house that receives the fiber cable from outside?

5. Also when you are getting the spinning wheel are you going into the settings on your device and rebooting it?

I flip around with the remote to find stuff we want to watch.  However there are times when we will binge watch a channel.  (I think it's stupid we even have to touch the remote every 4 hours.  Never had to with previous system.)

2.  How far is your eero device from the TV that gives you the graphic with the spinning circle and what is the line of sight like between the device and your TV?  In other words, straight shot or walls, ducts, floors, other electronic devices, etc?

In the middle of the house in a small open hall area.  Maybe about 10 feet from 1st TV with no obstruction, maybe about 2.5-3 feet from 2nd TV with just a partition (maybe 10 inches) between eero and 2nd TV.  Both TVs will get the spinning circle at times but never at the same time.  Have 2 laptops as well.

3.  Is your eero software up to date?  You can check this in your eero app on your phone.

Just had the system installed a month ago.  I assumed the Altafiber guy took care of updating software when he installed it.

4.  Seems basic, but how often have you unplugged/restarted your eero router and the altafiber device inside your house that receives the fiber cable from outside?

Have never unplugged the eero router.  Not sure what "altafiber device inside your house" would be.  We have a cable connection in our basement that looks like a white box.  Have never touched it and have never been instructed to touch it by CinBell or Altafiber.

5. Also when you are getting the spinning wheel are you going into the settings on your device and rebooting it?

Cannot find any setting on the Altafiber screen to do any rebooting.  Was instructed by altafiber when I get the spinning circle and it does not resume broadcasting, I am to go to the small box-like connector they installed on each TV and unplug the power for about 30 seconds (depending which TV has the issue) then plug it back in.  That usually will clear up the problem.  Just seems that I'm having to do this just about every week or two.

@OlDog75 Sorry for the delay, I had to set some time aside for this one.

On 1, I think we may be stuck.  I scanned the settings real quick and nothing jumped out to me to change the sleep setting on the box as a whole. I would think there is a setting but again I didn't see it.

On 2, you do not need a second eero.

On 3, maybe or maybe not on the updates but I know I just had an update available for both of my eeros. You (or someone in your family) should have a phone/computer with your eero app on it.  All you have to do is open that app, click on your eero device (it will be right there), scroll down, and it will tell you if the software is up to date or not.  And update it is just clicking to update it and in about 10 minutes everything is all set up.  It is similar, but longer, than updating most apps on your phone.

On 4, I would do this once you read this and maybe at least once a month, more often if you are having issues.  Here is what I would do.  I would unplug the two small box connecters connected to each tv, leave them unplugged, walk to your eero router, unplug it, leave it unplugged, walk down to the white box in the basement and unplug it for thirty seconds.  Then plug the white box in the basement back in, walk back to the eero and plug it in, walk to the small box connecters with each tv and plug them in, wait 5 to 7 minutes and see how everything is working.

On 5, you can do it manually that way (unplugging the small box connecters) like you have been doing and like I suggested above in 4 for a total reboot.  Or, you can do this from your remote.  Click on:

The TIVO button (top middle) which gives you the WATCH TV GUIDE MY SHOWS etc. menu.  On that, go one to the left off of WATCH TV to the = MENU option, click on it, go all the way to the bottom to device settings, click on it, go down to second from the bottom, Device Preferences, click on it, go to the bottom of that menu to Reboot, click on it, then you will have the option to reboot your device but you will have to scroll up one level because when you click on Reboot it defaults to cancel.  That will reboot your small box connecter from the remote/menu instead of unplugging it like you have been doing.

Let us know. ?

Thanks for all the info on eero Guru!!!!!  Old folks like me are operating blind out here when it comes to this stuff.
