Electronic Communication Devices from Dugout to Catchers to be Permitted in High School Baseball. The KHSAA sent out a statement on this today. I just wonder how much of an expense this will be to schools. It should be interesting.

From I’ve seen these devices are only a few hundred dollars. Not a huge expense at all, especially if you choose not use it.

That’s a massive expense to a lot of  school athletic (especially baseball) accounts. Those things run TIGHT.

It could be as simple as a walkie talkie with an earpiece receiver that the catcher wears. I get that some programs have really limited budgets. I can't imagine any team shelling out the $5 grand or so for the pitch com device that MLB teams use. But you can literally go to Amazon and get two walkies and a few listen only earpieces for under $200. That's not even a days worth of fundraising, and far from massive.

This is what Highlands is using. I believe they will work with the schools on cost. Watching the 1st scrimmage, it certainly picked up the pace of play which is great. Agree cost could be an issue for some schools.

10. No gambling, bookmaking or point spread comments are allowed in any of the high school forums. Figures of speech that use gambling terms may not be used in any of the high school forums (i.e. bet, over/under, spread, parlay, chips, line, odds, wager). All gambling comments are permitted in the non-high school forums as long as they do not involve any high school sports, students, or student-athletes.

I'll be interested to see if the more Old School coaches will be wanting to use this.  CCH's Krumps or Dixie's Maxwell.
