Hopkins County Central wins with four second-half players!

Featured Replies

Craziness in the Second Region and a new meaning to four on the floor here. Hopkins County Central beat visiting Caldwell County 72-51 last night while playing with four eligible players the entire second half! HCC actually played the last minute and change of the first half then all of the second half with four on the floor in a Seventh District game in Mortons Gap. There was some late second-quarter dissension that caused a fight to break out that resulted in one player from each team ejected for fighting and 11 other HCC players disqualified for leaving the bench during the fight.

I don’t mean to pile on Caldwell, I know they’re not great. But it’s hard for me to fathom that they trailed by only six at the half and lost by 21 when HCC played with four the whole second half!

I'll pile on Caldwell. How did the coach and staff create an environment where ELEVEN players thought it was OK to run onto the court during a fracas? Eleven wrongs don't make a right! Sounds like a discipline problem to me, for all involved. At least they didn't let a 22-year-old assistant coach suit up to fill out the lineup lol.

It’s hard to find assistants, often volunteers, to work crowd control in those situations. I agree with you, I’m just saying it’s not unfathomable to me.

The heroes for HCC: Drake Skeen 24 points, Trevahn Jones 17, Davonyae Butcher 15, Namari Hall 12. Amazing. Still, the staff should have more control of its bench.

Yep, you're right.

Further proof that Pip was the ultimate wingman. How many FT did Jordan end up with as a result of provoked technical fouls?

Also, Oakley sitting up like the Undertaker was phenomenal!

I thought Hopkins Central had all of the ejections?

Hopkins Central is hosting Livingston Central tonight.

Are the penalties for fighting - 2 game suspension? Leaving the bench - 1 game suspension?

Not sure what the rule is. According to Todd Griffin at YourSportsEdge.com the incident will be reviewed by the KHSAA.

Yep, HCC had all the ejections. And despite their chaos, Caldwell County still lost.

Coached a girls game where we finished with four in the fourth quarter due to illness, injuries, and fouling out. We won.....never saw an opposing coach so mad. Those ladies still talk about that 30+ years later lol.
