North Oldham was last open in 2021 Offseason.

 

From what I've been told, the North Oldham parents are a tough crowd to please.

With Coach Brown resigning, what are his new plans moving forward?

Brown is stepping away for his own personal reasons per some of the parents.

Hearing there are several former Head Coaches in the area going after the job. Also heard a couple assistants on staff as well. Has anyone heard any big names? 

Part of the problem they have is that a lot of the talent leaves for Trinity.

I lived in St. Matthews for half a decade and went to church with lots of folks from the Goshen area at my parish in St. Matthews. I know a lot of folks from the Trinity crowd who moves out that way in Oldham County primarily for the neighborhood (e.i. - bigger houses, bigger yards, more affluent neighbors), and their plan all along is to send their kids to Trinity and Sacred Heart for high school, and even stay invested in things like their church parishes in St. Matthews.

The interesting thing there is that Beechwood (kids going to Cov Cath) and Fort Thomas (kids going to New Cath/Brossart) are both in similar situations, but their schools seem to roll with it and consistently excel in sports.

I’m sure that’s true.  It doesn’t seem to affect them in other sports though.  The football culture there has not really improved over the years.  

Beechwood and Highlands is a little different because the good athletes can choose which public school they want to go to right?  If a stud athlete lived in Piner, they could go to Beechwood?  Or a kid in Alexandria could go to Highlands to ball out?

I’m not sure if that’s accurate, but a buddy from Ft Thomas told me that.

That's definitely true. Beechwood and Highlands do both accept out-of-district tuition students. Realistically speaking, there's nothing stopping Oldham County Schools from doing the same thing except for Oldham County Schools.

Kids can do that in Oldham County too, but another problem is that they don’t have the population to choose from and talent or tradition of those 2 programs.

it seems like South Oldham is the only consistent football program in Oldham Co.

Update: hearing there are possibly 8-9 applicants. From whom gathered from here is following.

• Biggest name hearing from multiple people around the area Justin Franklin, the former Carroll Co. coach from 19-21'.
• Hearing the former Head Middle School Coach Randy McGraw has applied.
• Couple Assistant in the area going after it, either coached there or competed against at one point.
• Possibly 2 Internal Staff Members going after it.

Can anyone confirm the same rumors, or someone have better source(s) than my own?

I can't confirm any of that, but speaking of Carroll County, I think this would be a good landing spot for current Carroll County HC Lonnie Oldham.  He was an assistant coach there a few years back under Coach Gamsky, then was the DC at Oldham County before becoming the HC at Carroll County last year.  North Oldham has found a way to win in every other sport (baseball, basketball, wrestling, cross country, etc.) so why not football?

No clue about any of these names or if there is any truth behind them but coming from a North Oldham dad at a 7 on 7 event this past weekend, this is what he had heard had either applied or shown interest:
