Raceland has sit at the #2 spot in the BluegrassPreps Class 1A Top Ten all season. They will welcome Louisville Holy Cross who has bounced around that Top 10  all season climbing high as the #6 spot.

Raceland now sits at 12-1 on the season. Raceland just defeated Hazard 17-14 in an absolute battle which went all the way down to the last snap to preserve the win. Raceland has also beaten Nicholas County and Paris.
Louisville Holy Cross sits at 10-3 on the season. They have beat Russellville, Campbellsville, and Crittenden County to get to this matchup.

Raceland is averaging 43 points per game. The defense is giving up just 11 points per game Louisville Holy Cross is averaging 30 points per game. There defense is giving up close to 18 points per game.

Who wins this State Semifinal matchup? Does Raceland continue its dream to Kroger Field? Does Louisville Holy Cross play spoiler and get a huge road win?

As I lamented last night, I was a little concerned with Raceland's performance last night.  I'm hoping that was their one letdown over the last 13 weeks and they will be back to normal for the next two.

Raceland does have a strong defense and able to slow a good team down.  The offense's best attribute is, it's not one player.  They will bring four ball carriers at you and will throw to three different receivers while rotating the big guys up front.

Holy Cross did beat Campbellsville to get here, but the concerning part is they lost to Campbellsville in the regular season.  They have improved over the season.  They have a competent passer in Perry with 1400 yards and 12 touchdowns on the season with 8 INTs.  Perry is also the leading rusher with over 1000 rushing yards, with Ballard giving the change up with 800 yards rushing.  In the passing game, it looks like Perry has three primary receivers:  Faushee, Hardesty and McClellan.  Guess who the leading scorer is.......That's right, it's Perry with 23 rushing touchdowns. If Perry isn't doing it, it looks like Hardesty is, he is the kicker hitting 90% of his PATs and is 4 for 6 on field goals. Hardesty leads the team in INTs with 4 of the teams 14. Ballard looks to be the defensive leader leading the team in tackles with 133 total and 26 for a loss and 8 sacks.

Holy Cross looks to be capable and will bring a potent rushing and passing attack.  Perry will be the focus for the defense to start with:  He accounts for 35 of the teams 51 total offensive touchdowns.  He's going to get the bulk of the rushing yards and all the passing yards.

Of course, I'm going to say Raceland is going to win this game.  I have a lot of faith in Mark Lewis to come up with a defensive game plan that causes problems for the Holy Cross offense.  That just leaves the fact that Raceland has to put some points on the board.

I’ve seen both of these teams play and based on the eye test Raceland is considerably better.

Eastern KY has been the Mecca for 1A football recently and I think we see that on trend on display Friday.

Interesting.  What specific points of the game do you see as different?  Truly interested.  I haven't seen Holy Cross play, in person, and would love to hear what your thoughts are.

Won’t be close.

Which way?  Why not?

And, if you thought Raceland Quarterback Logan Lundy was only a good athlete:

High school quarterback helps elderly couple during house fire

Raceland High School quarterback Logan Lundy lives in the neighborhood. He was on his way back to school when he saw the home was burning.

“It was pretty scary,” Lundy said.

Lundy helped Mrs. Ratliff, who’s been battling an illness, get seated safely in a van out of the cold. He also backed a car out of the garage before the flames could spread to it.

I think the fire was down off Thompson road where Barkley Court and Fox drive meet in Russell.

Holy Cross isn’t at the same level as Raceland IMO.

Gotcha.  Sadly, I'm ignorant of Holy Cross other that stats and win/loses.

I'll have Ramdates tonight.  Should be a great night at Ram Stadium.  It's currently 55 degrees, sunny and no rain in sight.

Pre-Game coverage has started.
