02Ram54
Petrino took UofL to the top of college football. Now he is taking himself to the top of his own career. UofL never got used, we got the Orange Bowl.:ylsuper: No one is bitter with Petrino if he doesn't have his dalliances before this. He took Louisville to the next step for this program. He always was an NFL guy, and it will just be another coach that takes us the last step. Even Moses never entered the Promised Land.
letabrotherspeak
Of course he is. That is why its a "buy-out" rather than a "pay-out". I'm sure you UK fans are familiar with "pay-outs" aren't you. You had to "pay-out" Hal Mumme a cool million bucks to go away. In fact, has any UK coach ever bought out their contract to go to another job? Louisville's basketball coach?
Alabama Larry
Why would ESPN run that? Telling the nation about an inhouse contract. Never seen something like that before. Have you?
ladiesbballcoach
Why would ESPN run that? Telling the nation about an inhouse contract. Never seen something like that before. Have you? It was reported in the Enquirer in Cincy before I read the ESPN story. The story was pointing out that it was Petrino's request that it be added into his contract. RockPride
 It didn't clearly imply anything. But thanks for clearing it up. You'll take the million dollars over a proven coach. :thumb: Sure enough...in Tom we trust.
RockPride
UL is being used as a stepping stone. :sssh: Better than a job to be put to pasture?
LSURock
Louisville's basketball coach? Sorry, we are talking about football. But thanks, I didn't know that Coach Pitino paid to get out of Lexington.
LSURock
No clue. But that must mean UK coaches are happy at UK, they stay until forced out. UL is being used as a stepping stone. :sssh: Or it could mean that most were not successful enough to land another job. :sssh:

laniganfan29
Better than a job to be put to pasture? I could of sworn this was a football thread but apparently I have been given some bad information again. Rick Pitino is going to be very upset with you when he reads this post RP.
