Warriors And Indians Meet In A Clash Of "Tribal" Mentalities

Records: Southwestern (9-0) | Madison Central (7-2)

BGP Ranking: Southwestern (#7 in 5A)

Series History: Southwestern leads 6-1 all-time

Table Setter: Richmond sets the scene for this battle of teams occupying contrasting headspaces. Southwestern is feeling itself after simultaneously securing another district title and further bragging rights over rival Pulaski County. All Madison Central is feeling is the bruised ego that comes with getting spanked by rival Bryan Station and losing its district crown back to the Defenders.

Injuries have been a talking point around the Indians all season, but they're healthier than they've been since Week 1. They simply got flattened by a Station squad on its way to reaching its ceiling, something MC has failed to make progress at. The trio of Hagan Harrison, Jayden West, and Brady Hensley have to muster some offense this week or risk backpedaling into the playoffs.

Southwestern stands at the doorstep of its first ever unbeaten regular season. A duplication of last year's effort in a 26-0 win over the Indians - especially on defense - should seal the deal.

If healthy, SW should win comfortably. I can't see a Mad. Central team getting drubbed by Station this late in the season, pulling off an upset against this Warriors team.

Madison Central lost to both Station and Southwestern at the end of last season and then made it to the state semifinals. I wouldn't be surprised to see similar result this year, although it would likely end in the final eight instead.

True, but 6A being more even this year may work against them, in that respect.

Don’t understand this Central team.  High expectations early and squeaked by in some games and the wheels came off against two really good teams.  They just don’t feel like a 7-2 team right now.

I'm kind of in the same boat. I think my trust in Holcomb as a coach is keeping me in their camp week after week.
