Maroons Set Sail For Log Mountain In Potential Trap Game

Records: Pulaski County (7-1) | Bell County (6-1)

BGP Ranking: Pulaski County (#7 in 5A) | Bell County (#7 in 3A)

Series History: Bell County leads 8-1 all-time

Table Setter: The biggest game of Pulaski County's season is always against arch nemesis Southwestern. And the same will be true again this year against the unbeaten Warriors, which makes the placement of this trip to Pineville all the more precarious. There's no looking ahead when Log Mountain beckons. Lying in wait for the Maroons is a quality Bell County squad that's quietly positioned itself as a sleeper in 3A on the strength of an offense averaging nearly 40 points per game. Fueling that unit is running back Daniel Thomas, one of the state's leading ground gainers. The Bobcats' "bend but don't break" defense will likely be pushed to its breaking point by a Pulaski offense currently in fine form. Brysen Dugger and Chandler Godby are playing as well as any QB/WR duo on the state. Good enough, in fact, to land them in the peripheral vision of the Mr. Football Watchlist.

Legendary Bell County boss Dudley Hilton had owned Pulaski County prior to last year's 27-24 loss in Somerset. The previous seven encounters between Hilton's Bobcats and the Maroons had resulted in a cumulative score of 303-29. Pulaski County won't make that differential up in one night, but they have the teeth to take a substantial bite out of it.

Bell County received to start the game and ate the entire first quarter away, one first down after another.

Pulaski has been punched in the mouth. Looking ahead? Maybe, maybe not. But Bell is no joke tonight.

Daniel Thomas goes 51 yards untouched for the Bell touchdown. They're pushing Pulaski around so far. Haven't been stopped yet.

Bell County 21

Pulaski County 14

Bell nearly took the ensuing kickoff back for 6. They advanced the ball into the PC redzone, but a last second field goal attempt was blocked. Bobcats have chewed up the turf tonight with a potent ground attack. Pulaski has done well to keep within a score.

Ok it’s not an upset alert with it being only halftime.  But it is a shock.

Pulaski wastes no time tying this one up. Godby takes a screen 57 yards for a touchdown.
