Raceland opened up the 2022 seasons with a statement win over rival Ashland 34-7. That game was suppose to be the Rams home opener on the new turf field. But delays put that on hold and extended the wait another week. Russell will make the short drive over for another Saturday night game for the Rams.  Russell started its season on the road at Boone County. It was a tough game but Russell came up short 20-18.

Does the Rams get win #1 on the new turf field? Does Russell extend its winning streak to 4 games over the Rams?

If Russell doesn't clean up the turnovers and mental mistakes, they'll get blown off the field. Even playing a clean game might not be enough. Raceland is good. Quarterback play, skill people, both lines, linebackers, secondary... all good and some positions, great.

This could be a 41-0 reversal if Russell isn’t ready to play. Raceland will already be even more hyped than a Normal Russell/Raceland game since they will have a brand new turf field. Russell has also won the last few so Raceland will be ready. Russell must be ready to match their intensity if they are to make this a game.

We preview this game on our podcast, Thursday, 8/25 at 7:30 pm!38A111B5-71A9-4221-B336-0DE73DA6505C.jpeg.e27b6b12f88038d1cf4e3b19c92eadef.jpeg

Carson Patrick gives Russell one of its only matchup advantages in this game. Offensive line play might be a plus for Russell tonight, but Raceland is deep in its front seven. Raceland is definitely the favorite here. Should be a great atmosphere as Raceland unveils its new turf.

Raceland has some nice looking athletes for a 1A school.

Russell takes possession for their 2nd drive.

Raceland is deep with experienced upperclassmen. They're built for a run at Kroger Field.

I agree.  Watching them and Pikeville at the same time has me hoping there is a way for the two of them to meet in the finals.

58 yard pass to Carson Patrick for td.

Exactly what they needed. Patrick can make those plays. He may need to do that a few times tonight.
