PRESS RELEASE MAY 20, 2022:

Raceland-Worthington Independent Schools will be moving forward on an artificial turf project that is set to begin at the end of this month.

Superintendent Larry Coldiron and the Raceland-Worthington Board of Education are announcing the approved project. The construction timeline should allow Raceland Football to be ready to host Ashland in their home opener on Aug. 19th.

"We have transformed our facilities the past 5 years, and this is just another example. Our community stepped up in 2015 when we asked them to enact a facilities nickel tax. Raceland Schools have reaped tremendous benefit from that nickel and this is just another example," Coldiron said.

"These upgrades started long before my tenure. I believe it started with the Palace, our beautiful high school gym that was opened with our wonderful Cultural Arts Center. However, that facilities nickel allowed us to open a brand new state of the art middle school in 2019 , equipped every classroom in the district with Lite the Nite touchscreen panels, and we were one of the first districts in the state to go 1:1 with Chromebooks. Our new playgrounds, lighted sidewalks and new tennis courts have become an amazing attractions for our community. Our central office is a beautiful space, and this summer we have also gone to bid on a bathroom renovation at Campbell Elementary."

"Our facilities are unmatched anywhere in this state, and we will continue to make strides and raise the bar for the students of Raceland Schools," said Superintendent Coldiron.

I'm digging on that little Rams field on the opposite side of the track...à la Somerset's Briar Batch.

Amazing what happens when the community gets behind a school system.  Excellent job by the school system delivering on what they promised with facility upgrades for the district.

This field looks great and I'm loving that little field too, I think something like that would look great down at Bellevue's Gilligan Stadium
