Dang. He and Dave Grohl were just on Howard Stern about a month ago promoting their new horror film and he seemed to be in good spirits.

Apparently an ambulance was called to Hawkins' hotel in Bogota on Friday night in response to a call about a "man suffering from chest pains." Hawkins had completely collapsed by the time the medics arrived, and they tried unsuccessfully to resuscitate him before declaring him dead prior to departure from the hotel.

Bogata officials released initial toxicology reports, but didn't state anything about cause of death. The early toxicology reports showed THC, antidepressants, benzodiazepines (usually used for treating anxiety, insomnia, or sometimes seizures), and opioids in his system. They weren't clear on whether or not their were multiple varieties of each the antidepressants, the benzos, and the opiods.

Hawkins was a California resident, so in theory (assuming the type opioids they found in his system weren't either heroin or carfentanil) he could have been using all of those drugs legally. Benzos and opioids are both also used illicitly though, obviously, and especially when you take into account the fact that Hawkins overdosed on herion back in 2001, I've got to think this is going to turn out to be death by misadventure.

Overdose is the first thing I assume in situations like this. I'll be surprised if that isn't the case here.

Same here.

Rest in peace Taylor.

This will always be my favorite Foo Fighters song:
