2007 Boyle County

Featured Replies

I feel that Boyle co. will get back on track.

Just an observation but... one thing I noticed last season was the sideline. the players did not look like boyle county players. What I mean is that the sideline was quiet, heads were hanging, even when they were winning. I did not see the fun that was associated with Boyle Co. football. No intensity! No Fire! No Black Death look that intimidated the opponents. All in all they did not look, act or play like Boyle county. Honestly, it was disappointing. In the past, win or lose, the opponents knew they were in a game when they played boyle. Last season, ... not!

Sounds like Coaching, chemistry, and leadership problems to me... Nothing about talent in that observation ^^^^

I agree with HitStick, talent alone does not win football games, need coaching, chenisty and leadership, but let me add one, great fan support, which also has drop in the last couple of years.

I have to agree with the fan support and myself included. I can't say I went to every home game like I used to, but to be honest, it was a more exciting brand of football when Smith was there. I will be at more Boyle County home games this year and for the next 5 years to be quite honest. As my son gets older, I know more and more kids that will be a part of the football team and I will be there to support those kids that have spent the night at my house and been close friends with my son through middle school. I will be making the journey to BG for the first game, but 99% of that is because they will finally be playing my alma mater. I hope that is a game we can have a home and home series for until I die. Big thank you to the schedule makers for making this game a reality after waiting for so many years for the playoff matchup that never came.

I do think the future is going to be bright for BC. They have talent and even Coach Smith's first few years at the helm were rocky. I hope Pardue, Hester, Mason and co. can right the ship for this year and from now on.

Good luck versus Bowling Green.

This gloom and doom attitude towards the exact same coaching staff minus Chuck Smith is amazing to me. There was no way Boyle was going to maintain the level of winning they had for 6 years. Pardue and staff went 11-2 their first year and went 6-6 last year. The year before the Rebels started their amazing run of 5 straight titles and a runner up finish, they were 7-5 and were blasted by Danville 60-7 in the regular season finale. That was in the 8th year of Chuck Smith's tenure! If Boyle has 3-4 losing seasons in a row then maybe the Boyle contingent will have a reason to complain but not before then IMO.

I don't think most of the Boyle faithful are complaining as much about the losses as with the atmosphere around the team. things seem very negative and the players do not seem to have the same chemistry nor heart as in years past. Most true fans take the losses when they feel like the team gave it their best shot however, last season this did not seem to be the case. The rebels seemed to lie down and quit which is unusual for them. Also there seemed to be a lot of malcontents with negative attitudes that affected a lot of other players. Maybe the problems were just a few bad apples, maybe the problems are still around. I don't think the "program" can stand another negative season or what was a very proud program may start to fall apart. My guess is that things will get turned around even if it means cutting loose some negative individuals and the rebels will be a force next year.

I have to agree with 4th and long. When I say I hope they right the ship it was mainly about the attitude that seemed different about Boyle County football. I just hope they get back to the atmosphere that was present when they were winning. It is much easier to accept a loss when you know the team gave it's all, like in last year's Danville game. As the season wore on, the attitude seemed to get worse all the way around from the players, parents, and fans. I too had a negative attitude at times last year, but that was due to the fact that it seemed like things were going to get worse before they got better and everyone close to the program knows that we truly should have been a better and more competitive team that what we had. here's to a much better future as i know longer am going to think about last year. It's time to move on.

Good luck Boyle County, see you in BG.:walk:

I was proud of our team last year. They lost some very good close games to some very good teams.

To improve for 07', better play calling. I did not agree with a lot of the plays called at the time they were. But then again I am not a coach. I do believe we have a very talented coaching staff. Juts maybe re-arrange things a little. Maybe Pardue will call the offensive plays : )

There is a lot of talent on this team, as there was this past year. But I know a lot of these kids well and believe me when I say their heart is in it as it was last year and they do have a positive attitude about playing the game and winning. Was what happened last year a distraction, yes. But they did the best they could, as did the coaches. The players want the same as any other kid on any team does, as do the parents and the “faithful” of these kids. You don't jump ship when things are not so good. Some of the "faithful" did. I did not notice the attitude of the team different, they still wanted the same thing as all the others did, to play their best and win. That never changed and never will.

Congrats on your first post, and welcome to the site Rebelmom :dancingpa We can always use another Rebel Backer in here!

Welcome rebelmom, however, as an outside observer of boyle co. I, like many others, noticed a profound difference in the demeaner and confidence of the rebels last season. For what ever the reason they did not act nor play "rebel ball" they played more timid and without confidence. I am not bashing the rebels rather making an unbiased observation. I genuinely hope to see the rebels return to form next season but all the excuses in the world cannot change the fact that to many outsiders the rebels were not the same team. I should add that I saw many games last season and excluding the Danville game the rebels did not measure up to the heart of past teams. IMO

That was a great post by a first timer, welcome to BGP,Rebelmom.:thumb:

Thanks for the welcome!
