Traditional 10th Region power Covington Holmes plays host to the 10th Region Tournament, which kicks off on Wednesday night when Mason County battles Bishop Brossart at 6:00 pm.

The Royals enter the tournament undefeated within the 10th Region for the 2021-2022 season.  Brian Kirk's club is led by junior forward Terrell Henry, a 1st Team All-Region performer, who tallied 22 points & 21 rebounds in the championship game of the 39th District Tournament.

Scott Code's Mustangs, meanwhile, are licking their wounds from a 43-point shellacking at the hands of rival Campbell County in the 37th District title game.  Senior big man David Govan leads Brossart with 15 ppg. & 6.6 rpg. while shooting 61.8% from the floor.

These two tangled on February 10th in Maysville & the Royals came away with a 54-45 victory.

Who wins this tournament opener?

Yeah 9th, 10th, whatever it takes.

I’m gonna take Mason to win unless Brossart does what they did to Scott. Out coached, better offense and plays lead to better possessions, played zone all game, stall ball and slowed tempo down.

Bossart can do what they want, Mason still wins.

Just sad to see the state of the program. Kids quitting, No feeder program as it was cancelled this year and has been in decline and the middle school teams boys and girls are in bad shape with not much coming up thru the pipeline.  There’s no comparison between Scott vs Campbell, it might be a real long time before Scott has a winning record or even blinks at beating the Camels.

So, is all of this on the coach.  You forgot to add the upgrade of the gym appears to be put on hold, I'm sure the coach didn't make that decision either.

So are they in a cycle of limited talent? Schools have that happen. Look at Campbell County in football this past season. Sounds like some of these decisions were made by administration rather than the coach. He's produced some good results previously. Right now Campbell is probably the second best team in the 10th.
