I think the voting just ended.  Not sure when it began.

Congrats to Mr. Smithers...what an incredible dynamic winner of a player!

Split vote this year.

The 8th Region coaches voted Teagan Moore of Owen County as POY.

Congrats to both young men!

Just curious does anyone have a copy of the ballot on which players were considered in the voting and how they finished in the final voting?

Yes, I was at Owenton the other night when Moore was honored, so is this being treated as COPOY or how does it go in the books?

My understanding is that Smithers won the senior-only award, and Moore won the overall award . . . correct?  Smithers is now eligible for Mr. Basketball; Moore would have to wait until he's a senior.

What are similar results in the 9th and 10th Regions?

The KABC award is only given to a senior, ConverseAllStar is correct.

The region coaches have no such restriction, and may vote on whoever they feel is the most deserving.

Both are incredible players and deserving of accolades.

So these are actually two different awards by different organizations?

Yes.

You have to be a member of the KABC to vote in it, and only seniors are considered in the balloting.

All of the 8th Region coaches vote in the Region 8 coaches' poll, and all players are considered.

Any official vote standings on how all the senior players finished in the region voting?

Half of the players chosen "All-Region" by the 8th Region coaches (8 of 16 players) were underclassmen, including the top three vote-getters (Teagan Moore, Dallas Roberts, and Kenyon Goodin of Collins...)

Brant Smithers was the #4 vote-getter in the 8th Region coaches' poll, but he was the top vote-getter among seniors.

Sam Powell of Oldham County was #6 in the poll and #2 among seniors.

Jackson Twombley of Woodford was #8 and #3 among seniors.

Cameron Christy of Walton-Verona was #9 and #4 among seniors.

Hayden Burgess of Oldham County was #11 and #5 among seniors

Drake Skidmore of Gallatin County was #12 and #6 among seniors.

Ben Michel of South Oldham was #14 and #7 among seniors.

Kevin Wix of Henry County was #16 and #8 among seniors.

Phenomenal talents for sure. There are four or five kids that could have won it. There are some talented players in the 8th region!
