One player that I believe is a sleeper but you'll see him in all the stats is John Smith of Holmes. Not syaing he's the best, btu definetly one of the top players in the region.

 

Holy Cross- Baker, Ryan

Ryle- Humphries, Wagner, Murray

CCH- Maile, Bleser, Blazejewki

St henry- Kuebbing, SHanks

Boone- Farris (probably the best if not, one of the top 2 catchers in the 9th)

Conner- Shane ?? (3rd baseman)

Sk- Parrot, Jacob RObinson

 

IMO you'll hear about those players every game they play.

 

For conner that would be Shane Taylor... One heck of a 3rd baseman

Having watched CCH among many other teams last season, I think it's a bit of a stretch to put any player at a level above all the talent in the 9th region. Maile, while a great power hitter, behind the plate did not have the mechanics to be considered the best catcher in the area. Wasnt there another freshman that caught at the varsity level, or was it only JV?

 

Isler is the person you are thinking about......

 

Maile being a Frosh last year, had one hell of a season, at bat, and behind the plate. He needs to work on his throwing mechanics to second, but he has a strong arm, so that will be easy to fix, and he needs to stay low for his pitchers. He is extremely talented at blocking pitches in the dirt and seems to understand his pitchers weakness and strengths and works hard behind the plate to work with them. Smart heady catcher, one of those rare players who when he started to play regular, you forgot he was a Frosh, and I look for bigger and better things out of him this year.....

It doesn't hurt that he has played under Bill Holocher as a coach with the KY Kids for the past bunch of years. In two years when this class is seniors, if you look at the all region team, you will probably see @ 5 or 6 players from Bill's KY Kids teams.

Maile 2-3, 2 RBIs; Nutini 2B; Holocher 2-3, 2B

 

Include in this Nutini picking up the save, and Holocher saving the game with his defense. All three of these guys are KY Kids alumni.

btw: Darner should be mentioned; soph started as DH for Isler (also soph) who started at first base:..Darner 1 for 2 with a walk; base hit with bases loaded 1 rbi...(don't know why he was left out of box score?)

Correct, but I'd be surprised to see too many catchers better than Maile behind the plate or while batting.

Mechanics are the only thing I am questioning. His batting is over the top. There are other catchers who have better mechanics allowing their time to second be better than his.
