Here we are again for this big district showdown for the number 1 seed in the district. Raceland comes into the matchup at 7-1 on the season. Paintsville comes in at 4-4 on the season.  The Rams on the season are scoring close to 39 points per game and giving up close to 12 points per game. Paintsville comes in scoring just over 27 points per game and giving up close to 21 points per game. Racelands lone loss of the reason came at the ha day of rival Russell. Paintsville has losses to Pikeville, Beechwood, Garrard County and Perry County Central. 
 Who wins this big district matchup for the number 1 seed? Does Raceland steal one in Paintsville? Does Paintsville shock the Rams with a win?

I think Raceland goes to Paintsville and wins. Paintsville is a tough place to play though. These two have had some good games in the last several years.

Since 1998, this Interesting stat in this series. Raceland holds a 13-12 edge. In the playoffs each team is 4-4.

I say this every season, but it bears repeating... This is the best rivalry in 1A. No two teams in the class get after each other like Raceland and Paintsville. 

It's not easy for a reigning state champion to fly below the radar, but that's what Paintsville is doing at the moment. The Tigers could sneak up and beat a lot of teams ranked ahead of them, but lying in the weeds isn't really an option for them against Raceland. The Rams have no excuse not to be ready, especially with the game being in Paintsville. 

Give me the Rams by two scores. They have many more options offensively than Paintsville. I think the Tigers are a little too reliant on Harris Phelps.

 

This is a really interesting matchup for a variety of reasons. Paintsville needs this to get their season back on track. Raceland needs a good win here to prove to themselves they are ready for Pikeville.
